Villain Overview

You’re right. I am.
~ Benedict's most famous quote before killing Abraham Lincoln.
I know betrayal hurts, Georgie, and it can often rile in a man with motivation he didn’t even know he had. But face facts, with Abe and the rest of your revolutionaries gone, on account of me having killed them all just now, your tired party-boy antics are bound to fail. You’ll never be the leader Abe was, because you lack Abe’s brains, his heart, and most importantly, his soul. Without him, the revolution is dead.
~ Benedict taunting George Washington.
Why don't I take THE WHOLE THING!?! (...) Because you double stuffed buffoon, why would I want to eat a slice... when I can eat the whole a-pizza pie?!
~ Benedict Arnold showing his true nature to King James, before betraying and killing him.

Benedict "Cosby" Arnold is the main antagonist of the 2021 Netflix adult animated action comedy film America: The Motion Picture.

He is the former American soldier who betrayed the Americans and aligned himself with the British empire. He is also former friend turned arch-nemesis of George Washington and initially King James' right-hand man before betraying and killing him.

He was voiced by Andy Samberg.

Appearance[]

Benedict Arnold is a large middleweight man with a powdered wig and a complete late 18th Century Uniform with gold trims, a strap, shoulder epaulettes, and a cravat. The uniform both has blue and red to symbolize both parties he was aligned with which the blue one symbolizes America and the red one which symbolizes Redcoats/Britain. When he turns into a werewolf, his appearance becomes wolf-like and his nails become claws. As a mega werewolf, he has darker fur, a muscular physique and razor-sharp teeth and claws.

Personality[]

Resourceful, ambitious, determined, ruthless, sadistic, and above all, absolutely treacherous, Benedict will stop at nothing to get what he wants and has no loyalty to anyone but himself. Because of the parodic and satirical nature of the film, Benedict Arnold is played as over-the-top evil, at some points even gleeful in how evil he can he. He even admits at one point he is a bad guy. He even comes off as petty and vindictive to the point that he stops a carriage just to flip-off George Washington.

Biography[]

Past[]

Somewhere prior to the events of the movie, Benedict Arnold was a colonist who yearned for independence. He joined the American colonists to declare it. But somewhere down the road he decided that being an American soldier was no longer fun. So instead he switched over the British side.

America: The Motion Picture[]

Benedict Arnold first appears at the beginning of the film when the Colonists are playing beer pong to decide what the title of the Declaration of Independence would be. Arnold bursts in and leads a bunch of Redcoats who slaughter everyone there. He then goes to Ford's Theatre where Abraham Lincoln and George Washington are. He reveals he is betraying them, which Abe, at first, mistakes as him coming out as gay. He then morphs into a werewolf and kills Abe by biting his neck off. Upset at this, Washington chases after him but fails to capture him. He then goes back and says he has a present for him from king James, which is actually just a bottomless box with him flipping Washington off.

He is later seen at a bar with British soldiers. Washington and his newly assembled team burst in and Washington delivers a series of one-liners which Arnold is not really impressed by. He then turns into a werewolf and attacks them. He bites Geronimo in the arm which was turning him into a werewolf as well. To prevent this Geronimo cuts off his own arm. Arnold then proceeds to kidnap Martha, George Washington's recently pregnant wife. He arranges for her to be married off to King James. As a result of this, Washington has John Henry make a silver bullet. He arrives while James is eating dinner to announce he has drawn Martha a bath. He then proceeds to bite out James' heart.

He then leads the British in a final battle against the Americans. He turns into his werewolf form and jumps onto the battlefield. He kills some of the soldiers while Washington goes to save his wife only to find that she had already been turned British. The device makes tea rain from the sky turning everyone British. However, Thomas Edison reverses the polarity and makes beer rain down instead turning the British soldiers into party people. Arnold refuses to accept his loss and goes full werewolf, and the team loses the silver bullet and struggle to find it while Washington goes to singlehandedly fight Arnold.

It seemed like Arnold had won, but Martha successfully finds the bullet and while Washington holds Arnold down, Martha throws it to Henry who baseballs it back to Arnold who explodes in fireworks, ending British tyranny once and for all.

Trivia[]
