To promote GRIDMAN UNIVERSE, the series' episodes were compiled into a film, which was screened in theaters for two weeks from March 10, 2023.[5][6]

Synopsis
One day on his way home, a first-year student of Fujiyokidai High School named Yomogi Asanaka meets a mysterious man named Gauma who claims to be a "Kaiju User". Suddenly, a Kaiju and a giant robot, Dynazenon, appear! Yume Minami, Koyomi Yamanaka, and Chise Asukagawa also happen to be passing by, and together with Yomogi they are caught up in a battle with the Kaiju.[7]

The series was released on DVD and Blu-ray as 4 volumes from June 16 to October 20, 2021.[10] The compilation film was also released on Blu-ray on September 27, 2023.[11][12] The cover art for all five releases was illustrated by Tsuyoshi Nonaka.[10][13]

- The series premiere was coincided with the re-airing of Gridman the Hyper Agent episode 22, which was Dyna Dragon's debut episode, on Tsuburaya Productions' official YouTube Channel earlier in the same day.
- The V-Tubers Gawr Gura and Ninomae Ina'nis streamed the first episode of the series on its air date.[14]
- All the episodes have reused frames from SSSS.GRIDMAN.
- Up until GRIDMAN UNIVERSE, the universe this series takes place in was assumed to be the real world — Akane Shinjo's home universe and the basis of Tsutsujidai — hence their similarities. This was later revealed to be not necessarily the case, as Team Gauma's home universe is actually Mad Origin's identical replica of the real world created via Gridman's powers.
