Description[]

Executed by pressing forward and Heavy Punch, Dan strikes his opponent with a downward, open-handed chop; hitting the ground with his hand afterward. If no directional input or button is pressed, Dan shakes the striking hand and briefly grimaces in pain before dropping back to his stance.

Tactics[]

SaikyoChop

As an overhead attack, the main purpose is to break through the defenses of an opponent who insists on crouch guarding (as the attack must be blocked from a standing position). The draw back causes considerable delay, and this attack can easily be countered by an aggressive opponent by hitting Dan before he throws it. This move has a 22-frame startup and is -7 on block. However, it inflicts decent damage and range. Catching the opponent off-guard with his overhead can potentially decide a round if they are not expecting it.

Trivia[]

  • The attack is based on Ryo Sakazaki's own Hyouchuu Wari move, an overhead chop with an identical animation to Saikyo Chop, although Dan's version is a bit of an exaggeration.
