Following the Clone Wars, the world was chosen by Senator Bail Organa, the Prince of Alderaan, as the secret hiding place of his traitorous sister-in-law, Deara Antilles. Antilles had been discovered communicating with Darth Vader and attempting to turn over Organa's adopted daughter Leia to the Galactic Empire.^[3]
