The Best of Nicktoons 1998 is a Nickelodeon crossover VHS tape that was released in 1998 and contains the first episode of SpongeBob SquarePants, along with select episodes of CatDog, Hey Arnold!, The Angry Beavers, and Oh Yeah! Cartoons.

- The cover is edited from artwork used for Animation Magazine Volume 12, Issue 4, #66, April 1998,[2] replacing the magazine version's Rugrats characters (as the VHS has no Rugrats episode): Tommy Pickles with SpongeBob SquarePants; Chuckie Finster with the Oh Yeah! Cartoons logo.
- This is the first compilation VHS, and the first home video release of any kind, to feature any SpongeBob SquarePants episode.
- The original 1997 version of "Help Wanted" is included in this tape.
- This tape was only given out to employees for Nickelodeon Animation Studio.
