Team Rose (チームローズ Chīmu Rōzu?) is a group that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog series. It is a team that was founded by Amy Rose, Cream the Rabbit, and Big the Cat to search for their missing friends during the incident with Neo Metal Sonic, whom Team Rose defeated alongside Team Sonic, Team Dark, and Team Chaotix at the end of their journey. Though not as active as the other teams, Team Rose has occasionally resurfaced with new members to join their friends' ongoing adventures.
History[]
Sonic Heroes[]
In Sonic Heroes, Amy, Big, Cream, and Cheese met each other by chance at the local news publisher. A quick exchange of stories revealed that all four of them were searching for someone; Amy was looking for her missing Sonic; Big was looking for his missing best friend Froggy; and Cream was looking for Cheese's missing twin, Chocola. Furthermore, the only clue they had to their friends' whereabouts was a picture of Sonic with Froggy and Chocola in the local newspaper.[1] As they pondered on their only clue, Amy nearly lost it to a breeze, but Big and Cream got it back. Regrouping, the quartet then set out to find their friends, forming Team Rose.
Starting their search, the team eventually had a run-in with Dr. Eggman and his Egg Hawk. After defeating Eggman, the trio followed Amy's hunches to Grand Metropolis. After escaping the local Power Plant, the crew found Team Sonic. Amy, determined to make Sonic hers by force, then has her team fight Sonic's. However, Team Sonic soon escaped. Arriving in the big city, the group changed tactics: since Team Sonic were hunting Eggman, all they had to do was find Eggman. After overcoming an attack from Eggman's robots, the group came to Rail Canyon. With Big and Cheese sensing that their friends were close, the group headed to Eggman's base. There, they defeated Eggman and his Egg Albatross. After the fight, however, the team discovered that the Eggman they fought was a "stupid" copy and Froggy and Chocola were nowhere to be seen. With Amy suspecting Eggman was behind Froggy and Chocola's disappearance, the group left to find Eggman. While later entering and escaping the jungle, the group met Team Chaotix, who they ended up fighting over a misunderstanding. Afterward, they would enter a haunted castle and escape a mansion before finding Eggman, who attacked them with his robots. Overcoming Eggman's robots, the group traveled to the Egg Fleet, where they found Eggman in his Egg Emperor, who they defeated. Though their opponent turned out to be another fake, they found Chocola and Froggy in its remains and had a happy reunion. No sooner, Amy saw Sonic nearby and quickly chased after him.
Not long after, Team Rose (along with Sonic, Dark, and the Chaotix) united to see Neo Metal Sonic reveal himself. As it turned out, Neo Metal Sonic, who had been impersonating Eggman, was the true kidnapper of Froggy and Chocola and the one staging the teams' adventures so he could copy their data for a plan to conquer the world himself. As Neo Metal Sonic transformed into Metal Madness, the real Eggman saw the teams had collected all the Chaos Emeralds and got the idea of using the Emeralds against Metal Sonic. Everyone then volunteered to stall Metal Madness with the others while Team Sonic prepared the Chaos Emeralds. Despite their efforts, Metal Madness transformed into Metal Overlord, but a super transformed Team Sonic then arrived and defeated him. After the battle, Amy resumes her chase after Sonic, saying goodbye to her team while doing so.
Sonic Free Riders[]
In Sonic Free Riders, Team Rose appeared to enter the second World Grand Prix hosted by "King Doc". The team's participation, however, was arranged by Amy in an attempt for her to be close to Sonic, who was in the Grand Prix. Furthermore, the team had not been assembled under the best circumstances: Cream initially came to cheer on Amy but got roped into racing, and Vector had been hired as the team's third member by Amy just a half hour before the opening ceremony. Vector in particular was persuaded to help Team Rose by the 50% cut of the World Grand Prix's cash prize that Amy had promised him if they won.
Despite having not completed their registration, the trio met up at the opening ceremony. As they stood to be illegible for competing, Amy and Vector began to bicker. Fortunately, the trio were permitted participation. For their first race, Team Rose faced Team Heroes. While Amy remained fixated on Sonic, Cream and Vector focused on their own motivations. After beating Team Heroes, Team Rose advanced to the next round, where they faced Team Babylon, who quickly began trash talking them. Between the races, the trio's members had a hard time getting along. Despite this though, they managed to beat Team Babylon and advance to the finals, where their opponents were Team Dark. As the racing challenges progressed, Amy and Vector began bickering again until Cream stopped them. Just as the trio beat Team Dark though, Vector blurted out that E-10000B was too damaged to be in the race, meaning their last victory did not count. A rematch was thus issued. Once the trio secured their defeat of Team Dark and their tournament victory, they had a brief victory proclamation before they split up, with Cream following Amy who's going after Sonic and Vector seeing to the grand prize for himself.
During the extra rounds, the trio had their own fair share of defeats too. At the end of the tournament, the team and the others came to the awards ceremony to collect their prizes, but Eggman made them have a final race against his "ultimate Gear-Jockey robot." After the race, Eggman revealed he had used the Grand Prix to collect everyone's racing data with his E-10000 robots to create the ultimate Extreme Gear for him to use. Eggman subsequently challenged the team and the others to a race. After everybody beat Eggman, Metal Sonic revealed himself as the one controlling E-10000B, and it was discovered that Metal had given Eggman fake data so he could use the real one to beat Sonic in Extreme Gear riding. After Sonic defeated Metal in a race though, it was revealed that Eggman never had a prize to give out, upsetting Vector. Amy, however, remarked he should be feeling privileged to have raced with her and Cream.
Team Sonic Racing[]
In Team Sonic Racing, Team Rose (which consisted of Amy, Big, a Neutral Chao, a Hero Chao, a Dark Chao and Omochao at the time) were having a picnic at the beach when Team Sonic showed up. As Amy successfully invited Team Sonic to join their picnic, Sonic explained that his team had gotten an invitation to a race. Soon after, a stranger showed up, a Tanuki calling himself Dodon Pa. He explained vaguely to Team Sonic that he wanted them to test the most technologically advanced racing vehicles ever built on his perilous custom circuits in a Grand Prix where teamwork was the key. Amy, however, found Dodon Pa's explanation too vague and Eggman-esque to be trusted. Regardless, Team Sonic agreed to join Dodon Pa's Grand Prix. Thinking this contest sounded fun, Big asked Dodon Pa if he could come along on his spaceship to Planet Wisp where the first race awaited. When Dodon Pa permitted this, Big's teammates decided to come along with him, making Team Rose official competitors in Dodon Pa's Grand Prix.
For the competition, the group received the Pink Cabriolet, Frog Cruiser, and Chao Pod to race in. After the first race though, Amy grew more suspicious of Dodon Pa. Later, Amy talked with her friends about how this whole Grand Prix setup seemed out of place. While Tails agreed with Amy, Big thought Dodon Pa was nice. In return, Dodon Pa urged Big to try out as many races as possible. A couple of races afterward, Big began to enjoy the competition. Meanwhile, Amy took time off to talk with Omochao about Dodon Pa's amazing cars and tech. A few races later, Big caught Tails talking to someone. However, Tails convinced Big that the fox cub was talking to nobody. Later on, after Dodon Pa took his racing challenges up a notch, Amy tried asking him about his motives for making them race, but all she got was a vague, condescending reply. Soon after, Team Rose faced more challengers when Team Vector joined the Grand Prix. Soon after, Amy had a chat with Vector, and admitted that she did not trust Dodon Pa. Regardless, she was goaded into another race by Sonic. Not long after, Big heard that Dodon Pa had the tech to send objects through space and time, which Big thought made him seem "cool". However, the others thought that it made Dodon Pa dangerously powerful. Later, Dodon Pa took his challenges up another notch. Amy objected to this, as someone could get hurt. However, her protest fell on deaf ears. Meeting Blaze soon after, Amy learned that Blaze had gotten an invitation to Dodon Pa's contest too. Seeing that Dodon Pa had sent a message to another dimension, Amy saw that their host was very powerful and told Blaze to be careful around him. Not long after, Dr. Eggman and his team joined the competition, along with Team Dark.
While waiting for the next race, the group was radioed by Tails, who instructed them to join Team Sonic and Team Dark on the racetrack in order to help them take down Eggman, who had intruded on the two teams' race in order to compete against them on his own as a "special guest" (which Dodon Pa permitted despite knowing it was a lie). After Big and the Chao gave Amy a Skim Boost so she could get into position, Team Rose joined forces with Knuckles, Tails, Rouge, Omega, and Team Vector. Together, they surrounded Eggman on the racetrack before delivering a massive beatdown on the doctor with their combined Wisp power-ups. However, Dodon Pa was too busy watching Eggman's beating to see who crossed the finish line first.[2]
Later, after learning that Dodon Pa and Eggman was seemingly working together and that they talked of an engine of some kind, Amy opted to stop them now. However, since they knew nothing about their plan, all the heroes could do for now was keep racing. Despite recent revelations though, Big could not understand why everyone were mad at Dodon Pa, who still seemed nice to him. Amy tried to convince Big that Dodon Pa was not to be trusted, but failed. Not long after, Omochao detected signals coming from Dodon Pa that contained information on the teams' work. With Omochao confirming that Dodon Pa was sending these signals to an unknown receiver, almost everyone concluded that Dodon Pa was sending their info to Eggman. The only exception was Big, who did not understand their reasons for thinking Dodon Pa was conspiring with Eggman, even after Tails tried explaining it to him. Eventually, Big's conviction began annoying Knuckles. However, Big soon told everyone his reason for trusting Dodon Pa: he worked with Wisps, and Wisp only like nice people. This made Amy realize that Dodon Pa could be a good guy after all.
Not long after, Eggman had Metal Sonic join his team, which Amy and Big both agreed on was not good. A few races later, Team Rose were talking strategy when Big noticed a big guy hiding in the shadows. However, his short attention span meant that Amy did not take his observation seriously. Shortly thereafter, Omochao met Silver, who needed help keeping an eye on the whole racing track, as he sensed that trouble was coming. Omochao thus told Silver to watch the Chao on the stands, as they would surely react if they saw something wrong. Following another race, Big saw the big guy he noticed earlier again. This guy turned out to be Zavok, whom Eggman promptly recruited for his team. Later, Amy was starting to get exhausted. Regardless, it was decided that they should keep racing until they could figure the main villain's endgame. As Amy began to desire a vacation, Big suggested they could go fishing. Not long after though, Vector revealed to Team Rose and everyone else that Dodon Pa was actually the king of a planet and the President of Donpa Motors, much to Big's pleasement. Dodon Pa soon after revealed that he was using the Grand Prix to gather information for his corporation's Ultimate Energy Engine, which Dodon Pa wanted to use for philanthropic purposes. Realizing they had misjudge Dodon Pa, Amy apologized to him. Afterward, Amy got annoyed by Sonic's competitiveness as he tried to resume the competition.
Soon after, Big saw Dodon Pa get kidnapped by Eggman and his henchmen, who took him to the Final Fortress. After Big told the others about this, the crew went to the Final Fortress with the others to rescue Dodon Pa. There, Eggman had them compete in a number of races with Team Eggman and his army of Eggpawns in exchange for Dodon Pa, not knowing Eggman was using them to gather the Ultimate Team Energy needed to finish the Ultimate Energy Engine. Once the engine was complete, Eggman stole it from Dodon Pa and incorporated it into his Death Egg. Team Rose and their allies subsequently faced the Death Egg, and beat it in a race. However, the Death Egg soon after went crazy and drove into the Final Fortress's core. As the Final Fortress crashed, Team Rose were forced to abandon their cars and evacuate the airship while Team Sonic saved Dodon Pa. Down on the ground, Team Rose were reunited with Team Sonic when they arrived with Dodon Pa. Just as the Grand Prix seemed over since the cars had been destroyed when the Final Fortress crashed, Dodon Pa decided to give everyone new cars, thus allowing Team Rose and their friends to race once more.
IDW Publishing[]
In Sonic the Hedgehog: Winter Jam, Team Rose was forcefully reunified when Orbot and Cubot made their captees split into teams of two for their game show. Here, the team consisted of Amy Rose, Cream the Rabbit and Cheese. They, along with Team Sonic, Team Dark and Team Big, participated in various competitions for a chance to win a Chaos Emerald and escape. However, the game show was interrupted by Doctor Eggman, forcing Orbot and Cubot to release all participants.
Other game appearances[]
Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood[]
In Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood, Team Rose (referred to as Team Amy this time around) were slowly gathered by Sonic early on; Amy met up with Sonic while he made his way through Green Hill Zone; Big joined Sonic's team of allies when they needed him to get through the Mystic Ruins; and Cream joined Sonic's team after they helped her find Cheese. Together again, the trio joined Sonic's group on a mission to stop a group called the Marauders after they had stolen the Chaos Emeralds.
The trio and their allies eventually found Dr. Eggman, who they believed were in league with the Marauders. However, the doctor claimed that he opposed the Marauders too and that he had been reformed, willing to help the trio and the others by leading them into Metropolis where the Marauders were stationed and had drawn Angel Island to with the Chaos Emeralds, which the team accepted. Along the way, they discovered the Marauders were a group of echidnas from the Nocturnus Clan, exiled to the Twilight Cage 4,000 years ago. After entering Metropolis, Team Amy and their allies made it to Angel Island where they assisted Sonic in trying to stop the Nocturnus Clan's leader, Imperator Ix, who sought to rule the world, from stealing the Master Emerald. Despite their efforts though, Ix got away with the Master Emerald and used it to create a wormhole into Sonic’s dimension so the Nocturnus Clan could conquer it.
Having survived Angel Island's fall, the trio and their allies came up with the plan of going after Ix into the Twilight Cage and reclaimed the Emeralds to stop Ix. Using the Blue Cyclone Tails and Eggman created for this purpose, the trio and their friends traveled into the Twilight Cage while Eggman remained behind to watch the wormhole. Inside the Twilight Cage, the trio and their allies got five of the Chaos Emeralds back and forged alliances with the alien races in the Twilight Cage. When they prepared to infiltrate Nocturne to find the last Emeralds, the group was able to enter this stronghold with the help from their alien allies. Once they arrived on Nocturne, the group got the last Chaos Emeralds back and Team Amy participated in the final battle against Ix while Knuckles got the Master Emerald back. After Sonic defeated Ix, Ix started to close the wormhole out of the Twilight Cage, but Team Amy and the others got through it just in time. When they returned home however, Team Amy and their friends saw that much time had passed, thus allowing Eggman to build up his forces, which they faced upon exit from the Twilight Cage.
Sonic Runners[]
In Sonic Runners, Team Rose made a few appearances during exclusive Events. During the "Birthday on Windy Hill" event, Team Rose were heading to Sonic the Hedgehog's birthday party when they got kidnapped by Dr. Eggman and his Death Egg drones. Fortunately, Amy managed to escape while Cream, Big and Froggy were freed by Team Sonic. Once Eggman was taken care off, Team Rose came to Sonic's birthday party at long last.
During the "Tropical Coast Event", all three members of Team Rose had come to a beach resort. During their time there, the trio met Team Sonic who were tracking down Eggman. Getting caught up the affair, Team Rose learned Eggman had kidnapped Mother Wisp and planned to turn her evil. They thus joined Team Sonic in their mission and helped them stop Eggman's schemes.
In this game, despite making some appearances together, the trio is somewhat divided, with the actual Rose Type characters being Amy herself and Blaze the Cat (filling Big's role as the Power Type for Team Rose) while both Cream and Big are classified as Easy Type members, alongside Silver the Hedgehog.

Archie Comics[]
In the Sonic the Hedgehog comic series and its spin-offs published by Archie Comics, Team Rose was formed to secure one of the Sol Emeralds and consisted of Amy Rose, Cream the Rabbit, Cheese and Blaze the Cat. Though they fought against other groups, like Team Dark, Team Hooligan and the Babylon Rogues, for the Emerald, the group ended up with it and the team dissolved for the time being.
Following the events of Worlds Collide, the group became nearly indistinguishable from its game counterpart. While in the Sol Zone, the team was reformed with Blaze to obtain another Sol Emerald from the Blackguard Pirates before Amy and Cream returned to their world and renewed the group with Big as a sub-unit of the Freedom Fighters.

Trivia[]
- Team Rose is the only team in Sonic Heroes and Team Sonic Racing to consist of more than three members. In the former, Cheese is just an extension of Cream while in the latter, the four Chao are grouped together as a single playable character.
- Team Rose is the only team out of all the Sonic Heroes teams to have Sea Gate as a mandatory stage in story mode, as it is an optional tutorial for Team Sonic (can be chosen in the 1P Menu) and it is impossible to play this stage as either Team Dark or Team Chaotix without hacking.
- Team Rose's theme, "Follow Me", is the only theme from Sonic Heroes which does not reference any of the characters by name.
- Early in development, in the initial list of the teams for Sonic Heroes, Rouge was listed as being part of Team Rose with Cream and Amy. This is likely due to Shadow originally being planned to not return after Sonic Adventure 2.[3][4]
- Team Rose has had the most member changes and the least amount of appearances out of all the teams in the series.
- Every member of this team can fly, hover, or glide in some way in Sonic Heroes; Amy can hover using her hammer, Cream can use her ears to fly, and Big can use his umbrella to glide.
