Cruise through this simple starter track

— Description, Sonic the Hedgehog Encyclo-speed-ia

Emerald Hill is a course that appears in Sonic Drift 2. It is a racing track located in the Emerald Hill Zone. It is the first course in the Purple Chaos GP, where it is called "Emerald Hill 1", and the sixth course in the White Chaos GP, where it is called "Emerald Hill 2".

Description[]

Being based off Emerald Hill Zone from Sonic the Hedgehog 2, Emerald Hill shares many similarities with its predecessor. The main setting is that of a tropical island in the middle of the sea with verdant green meadows and a lake in the center. In the background there is a clear view of the blue sea with a few islands in the horizon and the blue sky with clouds only dotting it in the distance. Additionally, closer to the coast of Emerald Hill in the background, there are checkerboard-patterned hills in different shades of brown with green-striped grass on top of them and waterfalls, and fresh palm trees along the coast.

The racing tracks through Emerald Hill are mainly colored in alternating grey horizontal stripes in different shades with similarly colored red and white edges. On the sides of the tracks there are also occasionally tall palm trees with blue leaves. At one point along the tracks, the road also passes by a sand beach, with the road's edge touching the sand.

Gameplay[]

In Emerald Hill, the player's objective is to get the top position in the race. Racing outside the border of the asphalt track will cause the player to lose speed immediately. Additionally, the palm trees on the outside of the racetracks will cause the playable characters to come to an immediately stop and lose a Ring if they collide with them.

Along the racetracks in Emerald Hill lie red and white mines scattered all around. During the first laps on the racetrack, if a racer touches one of these mines, it will explode and bring the racer to complete stop. During the last lap, however, these mines will explode automatically.

Overview[]

In Emerald Hill, the player races on a circular racing track encompassing the entire map. The layout of the racing track in Emerald Hill comes in two versions which depend on which circuit in the Chaos GP the player choses. Additionally, each racing track is littered with different power-ups and objects that the player can utilize. On each of the layouts for the Emerald Hill racecourse, the player's objective is to complete three laps of the racetrack. The fastest racer to complete three laps is rewarded with a Chaos Emerald.
