A Wetterhoun (West Frisian: "Wetterhûn" English: "Water dog") is a type of water dog breed that came from the Friesland province of the Netherlands. It was originally used as a hunting dog.[1] The population is small which could threaten the breed.[2]

Even though it is a very rare breed, it is still generally healthy. Hip evaluation, elbow evaluation, and Severe Combine Immune Deficiency Syndrome tests are recommend for the breed.[1]

Temperament
