Glossary of Shinto |
Kumano Shrine (Yamagata) (熊野神社, Kumano Jinja) is a Beppyo Shrine located in Yamagata Prefecture. [1]
Beppyo Shrines are especially important Shinto Shrines in Japan which have historical significance or a large amount of staff and revenue.[1] All original Kanpei-sha and Kokuhei-sha in the Modern system of ranked Shinto shrines were the initial Beppyo Shrines, but over time more shrines were added to this category based on their current status or historical significance which was overlooked in the older system.[1]
