Terrence Alan Crews grew up in a strict Christian household in Flint. His mother raised him, because his father was an alcoholic.[3][4] His great aunt gave him a flute, so Terrence took lessons for eight years.[5] He played football at Western Michigan University (WMU) in Kalamazoo, Michigan.[6]
