The Presidential Building is in Jhongjheng District, Taipei City.

The President of the Republic of China is the head of state and Commander-in-Chief of the democratic country known officially as the Republic of China Republic of China. The Republic of China government has controlled Taiwan, Penghu, Kinmen, Matsu and other islands after the Nationalist lost the war and moved the government from mainland China in 1949.

The presidential office was created in 1948 under the 1947 Constitution of the Republic of China.

In the previous Kuomintang administration, the title of "President of the Republic of China" was used (Chinese: 中華民國總統). The current Democratic Progressive Party administration refers to the President as the "President of the Republic of China (Taiwan)" (Chinese: 中華民國(臺灣)總統).
