Lithium azide
Appearance
Lithium azide is the lithium salt of hydrazoic acid. It is an unstable and toxic compound. It decomposes into lithium and nitrogen when heated.
Preparation
[change | change source]It can be made by metathesis reaction between sodium azide and lithium nitrate or lithium sulfate solutions.[1] It can also be made by reacting lithium sulfate with barium azide.[2]
