ABOUT

Hello! ChipTone is a free tool for generating sound effects, mainly for games but they could be used for anything you like. I'm currently working to flesh out the sampler and the sequencer. This tool was originally made in Flash, but, uh, yeah, that didn't work out. So now it's in HTML5 instead! And Windows and Mac downloadable versions too.

I hope you find this tool useful, and if you make anything cool using it, I'd love to see!

"sampler and sequencer coming soon" - two years ago

Stage3D error: Context3D not available  :(

Gente como tu se merecen el cielo

Can you add history for this?

thats a better and modern SFXR!

webgl generates audio by few soundfonts, playback, but what is missing:

-playing in loop (checkbox), and optional playing ping-pong (checkbox)

-saving in other formats: mp3 at 48khz avg 128kb/s (using in our games)

This is amazing! Used this for my recent game https://af1fr.itch.io/glowgon.

This tool is soo amazing, i hope you add Ctrl + z and Ctrl + Shift + Z for undo/redo shortcut

big sfb fan, and this is a perfect tool, and I recommend using sfxr along with it.  Only commenting since my game design class uses this as a resource.

Surprised I forgot to comment! Been using this tool for years because it's probably the best and most easy-to-use chiptune sound maker freely available. What makes it even better is something I found out about this tool a few years ago, it's made by the same creators of Haunt the House and Snipperclips, the Super Flash Brothers! Loved both those games, they're very original!

This is so good, thank you so much for develop this tool!

Nice!! Can you make this for Linux?

Great Tool! Very Neat!

This software is bloody brilliant! Thanks so much for making it :D

There's a plan to integrate the sequencer or the sampler to the program?

(+3)

Compared to sfxr, rfxgen, bfxr and others, this tool seems better organized, more visually pleasing and also easier to understand. The only thing I missed was having the ability to keep multiple sounds during creation without necessarily needing to export or save them. This is possible in other tools.

I use this tool all the time!!! It's extremely useful for prototyping sound effects. I also love the visualization of sound through the dials and the way you can customize the randomised sounds as well. Really great tool!

Just discovered this. Fantastic tool, thank you Tom ♥

I really love this.
But i can't open on win, after i backup my computer.
Has anyone solved the same problem?

it's really  help full i will use it in all our future projects and give you the credits

Oh HEY awesome this is on itch now!  We used this for the SFX in CockBlock Hero!

Nice utility, too bad it's not FOSS. The community could have taken it further after the creator stepped away 😔.

Coming soon! ...ish

Coming soon! …ish

A FOSS version?

just quoting the samples/sequencer tab, it seems unfortunately soonish is code for neva eva

is this project abandoned?

(+2)

I sure hope not...

This is an amazing tool. I like to dump them in my sampler for use for sfx or in a sequence. I actually don't want more features, simpler is better for a chiptune sound, more complexity, more complex sound.

No updates since 2021? Is this project still in development?

(+5)(-2)

*since 2022

Fix?

Ugh.. FFS... any added features would be nice.

I've made suggestions in the past, there's other features they could add.

Very great UI. It's comfortable and easy to use. Great for making Sound effects =D

This is such and amazing tool! I'm a Sound Designer and I've got a shitton of audio equipment and plugins, but whenever i need a 8-bit style sound for a game i Use this. So easy to use and sounds really great!

Great tool. I used it on https://gvaliente.itch.io/varooom-3d

I've been using bfxr for a while now. Had no idea this existed. Really nice UI and great selection of tools!

this is rad

This is incredible. So easy to use that a simple button press can make a great sound (thanks to a great random seeding function that fires on a press) but with a deep toolset for those interested in some old-school chiptune synthesis. Well done. I can’t wait to dump some of these sounds into a sampler. :D

thank you so much, this tool helped me a lot realizing the sound for my Pong Clone

amazing

A fantastic tool that I should have been using for years. Thanks for your contributions! sfxr, bfxr, and this have all been amazing for indie devs!

(+3)

10.00000000/10 Because it is so useful when you need a sound but you didn't see any good sounds

see you in hong kong

I love it. Do you think you might release a Linux version at some point? Or maybe it's redundant because this might work fine in WINE.
