Shinjiro Taiga (大河 新次郎, Taiga Shinjirō) is the main protagonist of Sakura Wars: So Long, My Love. He is the captain of the New York Combat Revue's Star Division.
Appearance[]
Shinjiro is a Japanese man with long black hair and gray eyes.
He normally wears his usher uniform, which is a yellow and brown vest over a white undershirt with a blue tie, black slacks and brown and tan leather shoes
When traveling, Shinjiro wears a gray and white yukata with a blue skirt and brown sandals.
When sleeping, Shinjiro wears a white and black yukata.
As Peppermint, Shinjiro will put on a long blond wig, a red dress with pink frills around the neck, arms, and hem, a black choker with a green decoration, and a red bow in his hair.
He is commonly seen carrying his Cameratron, a pocket watch that functions as a watch, a communication device, and a camera, either in his right vest pocket or in his hand.
Personality[]
As a playable character, much of Shinjiro's personality is based on the actions of the player.
Beyond player input, Shinjiro is a courageous young man willing to put his life on the line to protect his friends and New York. He seeks to embody the spirit of the samurai and works to follow that path.
Outside of his courage, Shinjiro is similar to his uncle, Ichiro Ogami, in his eagerness to help others. This drive, however, is built on a desire to prove himself, especially after being shunned for not being his uncle when he first arrives in New York.
Shinjiro, unlike his uncle, is more emotionally vulnerable. The hostile treatment he receives after arriving in New York nearly causes him to break and return home until he receives encouragement from Diana Caprice and Gemini Sunrise which gives him the strength to help around the theater until he proves himself.
Background[]
Shinjiro was born on August 20th, 1908 in Tochigi, Japan. He learned to become a samurai alongside his mother Futaba.
When Shinjiro later falls into a coma due to Nobunaga's arrow piercing him, it is revealed that Shinjiro is a reincarnation of Koya Hijiri, one of the original Five-Ring Warriors that fought the Demon Lord in medieval Japan.
