Hamlin's Passing is a cacti field in Red Dead Redemption, Red Dead Redemption 2, and Red Dead Online in the Cholla Springs region of the New Austin territory.
Background[]
It has been confirmed through campfire conversations in-game among NPCs that Hamlin's Passing was the site of a massacre by Native Americans on a wagon train of settlers.[1]
Layout[]
Hamlin's Passing can be found between Rathskeller Fork and Ridgewood Farm and appears to be nothing more than a hilly cactus-filled area. There is a small abandoned camp within the area as well.
Trivia[]
Red Dead Redemption[]
- Upon entering the small abandoned camp, Marston will often remark "What happened here?", "Where is everyone?", "Seems far too quiet." or "This place is deserted.".
- There are signs around the small camp that support what NPCs say about the attacks by Native Americans against settlers, due to the fact that there are arrows stuck to the wagons, and it has been stripped of any valuables (except for the chest).
- Deer, wolves, coyotes, birds, and bighorn sheep can frequently be found around the remains of the wagons.
- There is a chest near one of the wagons that contains $15-$25.
Red Dead Redemption 2[]
- While the cacti field is still present, the in-game HUD never references the location, nor it is labelled on the in-game map.
Red Dead Online[]
- The location is incorrectly listed as being in between Tumbleweed and Rathskeller Fork.
