“I am Zant-Tanz, acting general of the Mucoid Warriors, here in the Mother Garden.”
— Zant-Tanz to Lloyd and Arin, "They Call It Doom"

Zant-Tanz is the current Elemental Master of Nature, the acting general of the Mucoid Warriors, and the supreme leader of the Mother Garden.

History[]

Backround[]

At some point, Zant-Tanz inherited the mantle of the Elemental Master of Nature from Bolobo through unknown means.[1] However, he was not aware of his element, assuming that he was simply good at gardening.

Dragons Rising, Season 1[]

They Call It Doom[]

A group of Mucoids emerged from their shells as Zant-Tanz congratulated Lloyd and Arin for passing their test to see if they would steal their core or not. The ninja explained that they were sent by the Spirit of the Temple to ask for the core so they can try to stop the MergeQuakes. Zant-Tanz explained that they have been waiting for heroes to come from the Temple of the Dragon Cores and ask for permission to save the Merged Realms. Lloyd asked Zant-Tanz if they could have the core, to which Zant-Tanz agreed, but advised them to use it wisely. Zant-Tanz also mentioned that it was fortunate that Lloyd and Arin had asked, as attempting to take the core without permission would have resulted in being captured like Rapton. He then took Lloyd and Arin to see Rapton, who pleaded for their help. Lloyd laughed at Rapton's belief, while Zant-Tanz joined in the laughter and explained that Rapton was right to be afraid, as he was a thief and would be thrown into the doom mucus for punishment.

Lloyd expressed his disbelief upon learning that Rapton was sentenced to be executed. Zant-Tanz confirmed this and jokingly mentioned that Mucoids don't punish rule-breakers, revealing his active imagination. Zant-Tanz explained that according to Mucoid tradition, someone could walk the Impossible Path on Rapton's behalf to secure his freedom. Lloyd agreed to take on the challenge, surprising Zant-Tanz, who mentioned that no one had ever taken that option before. With determination, Lloyd asked Zant-Tanz to guide him to the Impossible Path. Zant-Tanz led Lloyd and Arin toward the Impossible Path. Arin, curious about its existence, asks if it was nearby. Zant-Tanz, emphasizing the seriousness of the journey, urged them to remain quiet and treat it with solemnity. As they reach the entrance of the Impossible Path, Zant-Tanz acknowledged its difficulty, advising Lloyd and Arin not to look away from the challenge ahead. Lloyd, surprised, questioned if it was truly the Impossible Path. Zant-Tanz confirmed that it was indeed the most dangerous place in the Mother Garden. Arin wondered if anyone had ever survived going there. Zant-Tanz, after pondering for a moment, admitted that no one had ever made it through alive. Despite the apparent futility, Zant-Tanz insisted that they must still proceed as it was part of the ritual. He encouraged Arin to follow him to the other side of the path.

Zant-Tanz reassured Arin, stating that there was no need to worry since they already knew Lloyd's fate. As they waited for Lloyd, Zant-Tanz suggested they head back to prepare for Lloyd's funeral. However, they were interrupted by the sound of footsteps behind them. To their surprise, it was Lloyd, who had successfully completed the path unharmed. Zant-Tanz couldn't comprehend how this was possible, considering the path was covered in salt, which he believed to be deadly. Lloyd explained that salt posed no danger to humans, only to snails. Overwhelmed by the realization, Zant-Tanz fainted. After recovering, Zant-Tanz granted Rapton his freedom. Zant-Tanz expected Rapton to show gratitude for this gesture. However, Rapton responded by using his Imperium Sword to fire at everyone present. Seizing the opportunity, Rapton snatched the Dragon Core and hastily fled, with Lloyd and Arin in pursuit. Zant-Tanz, though taken aback by Rapton's actions, speculated that perhaps customs among their people differ.

The Administration[]

Zant-Tanz stacks some rocks until a portal from the Administration appeared, right next to him before Lloyd and Arin emerge from it, and Zane then came out, knocking the rock stack over. Despite Zane apologizing, Zant-Tanz was fine doing it all over again. He and the Mucoids later bid them farewell.

Dragons Rising, Season 2[]

They Gather for the Feast[]

When the Ninja arrive at the City of Temples, Zant-Tanz greets them, revealing he was invited before discovering he was an Elemental Master and demonstrates to them. When Lloyd, Ras, and Zur were attacked that night by a trio of robots, their weapons were identified by Tox as a rare Gilba Thorn, a dangerous plant from the Mother Garden, effectively pinning the whole attempt on Zant-Tanz. The Mucoid does not deny the accusations but accepts his immediate disqualification while making it clear to the others that the culprit behind the attack is still among the others.
