Patricia Castro designed the interior of this apartment home office.
Zach Smith built this wonderful desk as a 30th birthday present for his girlfriend, Sophie.
It’s a relatively simple design. A big flat work surface with a couple of large drawers for storage and organization. What it lacks in complexity, I hope it makes up for in style.
My girlfriend gave me a very short list of features she wanted. According to her, it had to have: storage, lighter wood tones, and hairpin legs. Outside of that, she left it almost entirely up to me. I did some quick SketchUp models, got her to sign off on this design and then set about making it a reality!
handmadeinamerika from Hawaii shares his desk.
Desk I made out of a recycled double-wide pallet. All original materials from the pallet were used.. only a few scraps left over. One extra 5 foot 2x4 and a few nails were used for the project. Cost was was less than $5, as all materials are recycled. I picked the pallet up from a sign and print shop next to my work after they received a delivery.. they were happy to give it away. Total time of the build was 3hrs.
Elegantly simple.
