The Life Grove is a room in the Tallon Overworld. It appears in Metroid Prime.
Description[]
When Samus enters, she finds herself at the edge of a cliff. She must jump down to find herself inside a large dome-like structure, with a small piece of land sticking out of the water. On this land piece is the X-Ray Visor, which Samus will need to exit the Life Grove, and for further progression of events. If Samus activates the X-Ray Visor, she can find that the dome is constructed out of Bendezium and may be destroyed with a Power Bomb (should Samus have run out, the Seedlings inside the dome will give her ammo when killed).
This will then lead to an area off the map hologram of the room, and a large chamber open to the skies. Samus can then gain another item, the Artifact of Chozo. She does this by finding a Sandstone panel in the water and Bombing it, bringing up a Spinner with a lock-like mechanism attached. Charging the Spinner will rotate the lock-like mechanism into a proper position, and another pillar will rise, with the artifact inside. To exit the room, Samus must navigate a series of platforms, Morph Ball tunnels and bridges on Great Trees, to get to the top of the dome.
Unfortunately for her, three Chozo Ghosts attack her before she can exit, possibly forcing her to have to navigate the area all over again. However, the fight is now much easier, now that she has the X-Ray Visor. After their defeat, a hole blows open in the top of the dome, this hole drops Samus down to the ledge where she can leave the Life Grove.
A Hidden World can be found in this room: [1]

Unused[]
An unused scan in this room has been found through datamining of Metroid Prime Remastered.
This patch of ground appears unstable.
Development Data[]
An unused layer named "2nd Pass Enemies" exists in this room. This layer adds eight Aqua Reaper tentacles jutting out from the underwater ground surrounding the bombable plate. Their placement helps in locating the Chozo Artifact. When the plate is bombed, the tentacles vanish. Oddly, their scan is that of a Reaper Vine, suggesting early or rushed development. Also worthy of note is that these Aqua Reaper stick parts of their tentacle out of water, making it the only known appearance where the tentacles can be seen partially outside of any water.
The reason for their removal is unclear, though it may be due to their placement; using one of the higher ledges, it is possible for Samus to jump and land directly in the middle of the 8 tentacles where the bombable plate is. If she lands perfectly within the center in Morph Ball mode, she won't receive any damage, but in bipedal form she will be knocked back and forth by the surrounding tentacles until she is flung outside the center. This can also happen in Morph Ball mode if contact is made, but it is much easier for the ball to squeeze out of the encircling tentacles' swinging.
Trivia[]
- The Seedling in the dome area will keep respawning until Samus destroys the walls of the room.
- The Life Grove is the only non-Chozo Ruins room in which Chozo Ghosts appear to attack Samus, although non-violent ones appear to her in the Artifact Temple.
- In Metroid Prime Remastered, if the room is re-entered after the Chozo Ghosts are defeated for the first time, if the ghosts are defeated for a second time, the battle theme will oddly not fade out and will continue to play even when leaving the room. The music will reload once Samus enters an elevator.
