Jupiter

"Astrometric displacement of the Sun due to Jupiter"
Various year numbers are overlain on this chart.

Jupiter is the fifth planet out of eight from the Sun.

While Jupiter is presumed to exist in the Metroid universe (since Earth is confirmed to exist), it has yet to appear in any canonical media. However, it is named in small font beneath a diagram in the Metroid Prime Trilogy art booklet; the same image also appears in the concept art of Metroid Prime, but is not used for any in-game scans. The Japanese version of Metroid Prime 3: Corruption also mentioned Jupiter as an answer to one of the questions in the Galactic Federation Bounty Claim Form that was used to determine the difficulty level of the game.

Trivia[]

  • The original image and text appear to have been taken from NASA, who used it in this article on astrometric measurement. The Prime version was made into a negative and then had orange and blue circles added.
  • Jovian is an adjective referring to Jupiter. Therefore, Jovian steel may originate from Jupiter, or else may be named after the planet.
