The "grand concourse" is a room in Ferenia. It appears in Metroid Dread.
Description[]
The concourse is a large hub room that connects to multiple regions of Ferenia, including the "Flooded Sanctuary", the lower shaft with the area's Teleportal, two entrances to the E.M.M.I. Zone, and one of Ferenia's freezing cold rooms. It features multiple floors with a large pillar at its upper center, that itself has protruding ledges on either side, and is above a wide platform. A small gap underneath the pillar gives enough room that Samus can Slide underneath it. These ledges feature curved staircases up to the top floor of the pillar, which cannot be accessed in gameplay and were likely used by the Mawkin before their downfall. As with much of Ferenia, windows are built into the walls, through which some of the exterior of Ferenia can be seen.
Under the wide platform is another, smaller ledge with two short staircases extending to its top in the background, and a central platform connected to the floor. These, again, cannot be used in gameplay. Present in background of the lowest floor are multiple Chozo works of art, including busts, displayed shields with spears in an X formation, and three Chozo Soldier statues standing tall with their spears in front of them.
When Samus returns to here on the lowest floor after acquiring the Storm Missiles, the floor is sealed off by four shutters blocking access to the exits and upper part of the concourse. Twin Robot Chozo Soldiers accost Samus and force her to do battle. When they are destroyed, the shutters lift, allowing Samus to continue.
Connecting rooms[]
- "Glyph shaft" (via Charge Beam Door)
- "Network Station" (via Power Beam Door)
- "Teleportal shaft" (via Power Beam Door)
- "Freezer west" (via Power Beam Door)
- "Armory" (via Power Beam Door)
Inhabitants[]
When either the Quetzoa or the Ground Shocker on the upper right are killed, its X will automatically merge with the other creature, creating a Quetshocker. All enemies, except the Takumaku, will respawn if Samus steps away from their positions within the room, then returns, even without exiting the room.
Items[]
- Power Bomb Tank
- Requires Power Bombs. At the top of the central pillar (under the highest platform), Samus can detonate a Power Bomb to destroy several Power Bomb Blocks, revealing this tank within the pillar.
