The USS Repulse (NCC-1900) was a 23rd century Federation starship, the tier 6 Repulse-class heavy cruiser prototype and the first legendary miracle worker heavy cruiser, in Starfleet service in the 2250s, 2260s and 2410s decades. (STO - House Reborn mission: "Welcome to Earth Spacedock", STO website: The Legendary Excelsior Miracle Worker Heavy Cruiser)

History and specifications[]

The Repulse was a top secret test vehicle that operated in limited service from the 2250s to the 2260s. Starfleet used the Repulse as a testbed for experimenting with technologies, including the ship's warp engines. (STO website: The Legendary Excelsior Miracle Worker Heavy Cruiser)

The NCC-1900 registry number was given to the USS Atlas (NCC-1900) in 2270. (STO - Reckoning mission: "Welcome to Earth Spacedock")

By the late 2260s decade, an Anton-class USS Repulse (NCC-1863) was in service. (VAN novel: Storming Heaven)

This would be one many vessels to carry the name, until the prototype's relaunch in the 25th century.

Decades after the launch of the testbed Repulse, the Excelsior-class heavy cruiser was launched as the culmination of the advances in subspace physics and field research seen in its testing. However, its revolutionary transwarp engine did not work as intended. (STO website: The Legendary Excelsior Miracle Worker Heavy Cruiser)

Following the Battle of Excalbia on stardate 84999.22[1] in January 2411, which saw the prominent involvement of hero ships from the Federation's past and present, several Federation and other Khitomer Alliance ships underwent a refit to legendary starship[2] qualifications. (STO - J'Ula's Discovery missions: "Measure of Morality (Part 2)", "Welcome to Earth Spacedock")

Miracle worker heavy cruisers

Excelsior-class variants in 2411.

After the return of Klingon Chancellor L'Rell[3], the USS Repulse was re-launched as a subclass variant of the Excelsior. It was the first legendary starship of that family, and received miracle worker ship notation. The Repulse, the replica USS Enterprise-B, the USS Resolute and versions of the USS Excelsior were among the heavy cruiser ships that Starfleet refitted match the Repulse legendary starship standards. (STO website: The Legendary Excelsior Miracle Worker Heavy Cruiser)

From then onward, the Repulse represented its class in the Starfleet Shipyards Operations interface. (STO - Klingon War mission: "Welcome to Earth Spacedock")

Khitomer Alliance flag officer in, or aligned with, Starfleet, deployed Repulse for missions around the galaxy's four quadrants as part of the four-quadrant strategy. (STO - Klingon War mission: "Welcome to Earth Spacedock", admiralty system)
