Ibsen was a 23rd century Human man. He served in Starfleet as a crewman aboard the Federation starship USS Enterprise in the 2270s.

History[]

In 2273 of the Phase II continuity, Ibsen joined a landing party along with Janice Rand, Crewman Kelly and Commander Willard Decker to search for survivors from the missing USS St. Louis, which appeared to have crashed on a planet in the Hyades star cluster. Rand detected debris in a hillside that matched the components of Federation starship hulls. Ibsen and the others used phasers to extricate it for analysis.

Ibsen and Kelly incongruously discovered a group of women having a party in a South Pacific-style lagoon. The two men removed their Starfleet uniforms and joined the party, becoming completely immersed in the illusory experience, which masked their life signs. Both men began to produce large amounts of male androgen hormones, which the Grokhoor harvested.

James T. Kirk, Ilia and Leonard McCoy beamed down and found Ibsen, Kelly, Rand and Decker comatose on stone slabs. Ibsen's heart suddenly gave out from over-stimulation, and McCoy was unable to save him. (Phase II episode: "Are Unheard Melodies Sweet?")
