- "This was a Cauldron once! But the wild got in, and now the enemy, too."
- ―Aloy
Cauldron XI is an activity in Horizon Zero Dawn. It was a HEPHAESTUS facility that manufactured machines for use in terraforming before collapsing.
Description[]
XI appears to have been rendered nearly completely non-functional due to a cave-in. Since there is a Thunderjaw among the machines buried in the cave-in, XI likely collapsed after the beginning of the Derangement.
The central core is still active and can be overridden. Much of the Cauldron still has power, and what appears to be a recycling center that melts down machine scraps is still functioning.
History[]
At some point, Eclipse cultists discovered the area and built extensive structures and fortifications in and around the dig site to make into an outpost.
In order to gain access to XI, Aloy killed the cultists outside in order to get a key to open the entrance. On her way to the core, she fought several more cultists. However, after she overrode the core, machines were alerted and breached the encampment to attack all humans in the Cauldron. Despite this, Aloy was able to escape.

Trivia[]
- Cauldron XI is the only permanent Eclipse outpost outside their Main Base.
- There are two inactive Tallnecks and an inactive Thunderjaw, which appear partially buried by the cave-in.
- These are the first completely non-functioning Tallnecks in the game (the Tallneck in Frostfigures can be reactivated). There are two more in the Stone Yield bandit camp.
- As Aloy leaves XI, Stalkers are seen killing Eclipse, with some hiding in tall grass to avoid them. If Aloy shoots at them with her bow, they will take damage but refuse to leave their cover. If she gets too close, they will tell her to stay quiet or else the Stalkers will kill them all, but then try to attack her.
Bugs[]
- There have been reports when playing on the PC version that Cauldron XI yields Cauldron Zeta's M/Theta Core Log 893V instead of the correct M/XI Core Log 231L. It has been confirmed that completing Cauldron Zeta will yield the correct log.
