Hawick is a neighborhood located in Vinewood, Los Santos in Grand Theft Auto V and Grand Theft Auto Online. It is bordered by Rockford Plaza, Burton and West Vinewood to the west, Alta to the south, East Vinewood to the east, and the rest of Vinewood to the north.
Description[]
Hawick is a middle-class mixed commercial and residential district, featuring few luxury businesses or lavish homes compared to nearby Rockford Hills. Hawick's commercial side seems to serve East Vinewood and Mirror Park, with colorful stores including Ammu-Nation, Hippy Feet, and Suburban. Most of these businesses are clustered on Hawick Avenue, which passes through south Hawick. North Hawick is more residential, with residents living in low-rise dingbats. The east side of Hawick appears to be a small business district, featuring mid-rise office buildings including the Galileo House and the iconic Badger Building.
Events of Grand Theft Auto V[]
The mission Eye in the Sky partially takes place over Hawick, while Trevor is piloting a Maverick looking for Chad Mulligan. Occasionally, Michael De Santa can be seen dropping off his wife in his Tailgater to let her go shopping. He tells her to not spend too much.
Influence[]
Hawick's name and appearances appears to be based on the Melrose District of Los Angeles, as Melrose and Hawick are both Scottish towns.

Trivia[]
- Hawick is a town in Roxburghshire, Scotland, approximately 50 miles south of Rockstar North's Edinburgh headquarters. Around the time of the game's release, a Hawick councilor expressed his "disgust" at Hawick's name being used to represent a "druggie hipster" district, claiming it could "destroy Hawick's reputation".
