The City of Carcer, commonly known as Carcer City or simply Carcer, is a major city in the United States mentioned in the HD Universe of the Grand Theft Auto series, first mentioned in Grand Theft Auto IV.
Description[]
Despite the multiple mentions throughout the HD Universe, no detailed description is given about the city itself. Arcade game depictions of the city in Grand Theft Auto Online imply that the city is a Rust Belt industrial city, similar to its previous universe counterpart.
It is the home of the Carcer City Unicorns sports team, and the setting of Michael De Santa's first bank robbery in 1988.
Geography[]
The city is said to be located 100 miles away from Liberty City; however, it is not confirmed if it is located in the State of Liberty or the State of Alderney.

It is a relatively lower level title in the overall statistic, and is listed before "Liberty City to the Capital", suggesting that Carcer City is closer to Liberty City than Washington, DC to New York City.
- Based on the architecture, positioning and a couple similar landmarks, this would further suggest that at the closest, Carcer City would be based somewhere in the vicinity of Hartford (which is about 100 miles from New York City. New York City to Washington, DC is about 226 miles).
- Some pedestrians can be seen wearing Carcer City Unicorns clothing.
- When walking in Little Italy, an Italian mobster is talking on his cell phone and he mentions that his cousin had recently flown in from Carcer City.
