jackson and liam are super cute together. liam putting in the effort to learn sign language and always accomodating for jackson's disability (because that's what jackson deserves!) was great to see...more

jenny and jaewoo were cute and felt like a good fit as a couple. their friends and family were likable and authentic. i was especially interested in the mother-daughter-relationships, just wish we could have gotten a bit more, from sori and her mom for example. but you can only do so much in 9 hours of audiobook (longer would have been too much anyway). and there's a sequel with her as the mc so it will most likely be explored more there.
korean culture and the kpop / music industry aspect was done well: with love but also critically engaging with the negative aspects. also feel like you don't really have to have a lot of kpop knowledge to understand everything but would enjoy the book more if you do.
the only real downside was the audiobook narration. right from the start i could tell it'd be a rough ride. the voice of the narrator was pleasant, the way she read the text was NOT. at first her intonation and emotions for the characters felt all wrong. and while i did get used to that (or maybe she got better while the audiobook went on lol) the main narration voice she did for jenny, the protagonist, felt... monotone? not sure if that actually describes my problem with it but it was distracting at times.
it was pretty nice however to hear all the korean names and words pronounced correctly. so if you want that i'd still give the audiobook a shot. otherwise just read the book if you can. the story itself is fun either way :)...more
The funniest yet most grown up entry in the series yet.
I was laughing quite a bit, especially in the beginning, but as this volume was mostly about meThe funniest yet most grown up entry in the series yet.
I was laughing quite a bit, especially in the beginning, but as this volume was mostly about mental health it was dealing with heavy stuff at times. But it was also so relatable and healing!
Therapy got presented as healthy but not a one size fits all solution. It got stressed several times that it's not one's fault for struggling with bad mental health episodes and behaviours. And that it's not the job of your partner to "cure" you although we all need connection and a support network.
Alice Oseman definetely knows how to handle the topics she chooses to center!
Other stuff I liked: ♡ All the existing couples were cute and supportive as always! ♡ The relationships with the parents got expanded upon and were handled super well. ♡ Side characters accepting their queer loved ones and standing up for them in the face of homophobia ♡ Tori omg, I loved every scene she was in! ♡ The teacher romance :oo I swear I'm rooting for every couple Oseman introduces / sets up because they're always so good together and for each other! ♡ Oliver was cute, Henry was cute, Nellie is always cute... did I mention that there's lots of cuteness in this book/series? ♡ The feeling of growing up - final highschool exams, getting your driver's license, more trust from your parents - was conveyed so well through visuals and text despite not being in the focus directly.

In this one: - we get all the cuteness (no surprise there! :p). Nick & Charlie are just good together. Super Heartstopper gets better with every volume!
In this one: - we get all the cuteness (no surprise there! :p). Nick & Charlie are just good together. Super thoughtful, wholesome and caring. Alice Oseman writes in the author's note "the 'getting together' part of a romance is just the beginning and there's so much else to explore beyond that" and I feel like that really is transpiring in her story. :) Excited for what's to come in the next one! - heavy topics are handled with care (CW: (view spoiler)[eating disorders, mentions of self-harm (hide spoiler)]) - Tara & Darcy are still amazing together and individually - Tao & Elle are adorable (Tao is also relatable... in the best and worst ways) - the parents are still the kind of parents you wanna have and/or be and the teachers are the biggest mood (especially Mr Farouk)!
As always for this series: 5 stars and recommendations to read and watch ofc! ♡

Amazingly written, only surpassed by how they portrayed Nick's coming out in the netflix series - although it's very faithfully I want what they have.

This book was super fun to read but also moving and deeper than I initially would have suspected. Predictable in the best way too. Really can't give this any less than 5 stars.
Boy meets boy. Boys become friends. Boys fall in love.
Watched the netflix series when it came out and fell in love with it. Feels amazing to watchBoy meets boy. Boys become friends. Boys fall in love.
Watched the netflix series when it came out and fell in love with it. Feels amazing to watch some wholesome lgbt romance content with great characters that treat each other well (talking about the main cast). And now that I'm finally reading the comics I must say it's honestly crazy how they managed to cast the characters perfectly for the show and make the vibe feel almost the same while also expanding some of the side characters' arcs early on.
5 stars, recommendation for both the books and the netflix series. They're genuinely amazing! ♡
