The best IVs for Gordin are +Atk and -Res. Because of his weapons' ability to allow him to strike twice, getting a +Atk IV is best for maximizing the damage Gordin deals. His Res is of less importance so it is safe to take it as his bane.

+Atk for a +10 Merge

We recommend the Special Effect Refine for Renowned Bow

It grants an effect similar to Threat. Atk/Def 2, but it has a much easier trigger condition. It might feel lackluster at first glance, but you have to take note that Renowned Bow is an upgraded Brave Bow+ that is capable of effectively exploiting a -4 Def on an enemy. Because of its synergy with Renowned Bow, it is a must to get this upgrade if you plan on using Gordin in the long run. A -4 Def that is always active should not be underestimated.

Additionally, the -4 Atk further helps him with his physical bulk and somewhat patches his weakness to magic attacks.

Gordin is a ranged physical attacker (range = 2). Therefore, when not accounting for the Weapon Triangle, the amount of damage he deals will be equivalent to her Atk minus the foe's Def stat.

Gordin Strengths

Weapon is more powerful Brave Bow+

Gordin's most powerful weapon, the Renowned Bow, is basically an upgraded Brave Bow+. It deals more damage because of its higher Might. It also has access to a special effect refine which grants a built-in effect that is kind of similar to Threat. Atk/Def 2. You can read more about the effect in the weapon refine section. When it comes to the drawback of -5 Spd, you do not need to worry about it that much as Spd is not really important to Gordin anyway.

High Def stat

Gordin sports a high Def stat of 32 at Lv. 40. This is pretty high for a bow user. This allows him to take counterattacks from other bow units.

Gordin Weaknesses

Low Res and Spd

Gordin's Res only sits at 17 at Lv.40. This makes it easy for magic users to take him out. Be mindful of Gordin's positioning in relation to magical units that can easily take him out. The fact that he also has mediocre Spd does not help him! He is easily outsped by many tome and dragonstone users.

Gordin's best defense against said units is his positioning and your strategy. If he has allies that can take out those units for him, then have them take those enemies out so Gordin can focus his firepower on other enemies. However, take note that Gordin has high firepower himself! If he can take out those units in the player phase before they get to him, then that would certainly be a good course of action!
