Since there is no real winter at this moment, I chose a wintery scene from earlier this year as my final posting for 2015.
The winter has arrived in Saxony (Germany). On the narrow road towards Grobau you can see the snow dunes, which continue from the wind to the road. Today's sunny weather and the weak wind have made things a bit easier. The snow dunes on the edge of the street are here in the foreground of the picture and are about 40 cm high.
Winter is coming, and much as I dread it, I know that I must start accepting it. We have had our first taste of frigid frost and sharp cold. I also know that winter has its own magic.
"I wonder if the snow loves the trees and fields, that it kisses them so gently? And then it covers them up snug, you know, with a white quilt; and perhaps it says, 'Go to sleep, darlings, till summer comes again.'"
~ Lewis Carroll

We are still waiting for winter to arrive. So... here is a winter image from last year. Driven by an east wind, the waves splashed these trees, coating them in ice

Winter in the PNW has been dry, little rain and little snow. This hike felt like a spring hike. The plants are equally confused. Some are starting to spring up thinking Spring has arrived. However, a serious cold snap is on the way. Punxsutawney Phil may have been correct when he said 6 more weeks of winter. We may get icicles hanging off cherry blossoms.
Except for a severe blast of cold in November, this winter has been a bit on the mild side and not too snowy either. But that has changed in the past week, and winter weather is sore upon us. This morning as I look out the bedroom window, the road is snow-covered, and it is very overcast.
Therefore, I am keeping keeping my nose indoors for the most part. This is from that early snow way back in October.

Low winter sun, dazzling us as we drive along!
Yes - in January we didn't imagine that driving might soon be rationed, or that we would be thinking in terms of 'social distancing' and even 'self-isolation'. How the world changes!
