These lovely asters just glowed in the late afternoon sun. I particularly liked the backlighting of some of the petals. Found in the Wild Gardens of Acadia in Acadia National Park.

When thinking of the most iconic site of New Orleans, St. Louis Cathedral and Jackson Square probably is at the top of the list. Located in the famous French Quarter, the cathedral was completed in 1794 and is the oldest in the United States. I call it Disney Castle of New Orleans :)
I actually visited the cathedral during the French Market Annual Tree Lighting event in November and the entire Jackson Square area was flooded with people, television cameras, and even the New Orleans mayor. So flooded in fact that I had to go back the next day to shoot the cathedral from the angle that I wanted, which is what is seen here. It was quite festive though and the experience of eating a beignet from Café du Monde under a giant Christmas tree while listening to live performances of holiday music was unforgettable!
Happy New Year y'all! Yes, I purposely shoot into the sun :) It was quite chilly with the wind blowing but I adventured out. May 2022 be better year for all of us.
Sunset at Kuaotunu Beach in New Zealand is a beautiful spectacle as the sun sets, casting a warm golden glow across the sky. The tranquil waters surrounded by lush hills offer a serene environment for those to appreciate the stunning views.
For the Macro Mondays "Just Leaves" theme.
A brand new leaf backlit by the setting sun.

A Monarch just hopped on my finger about 20 minutes after emerging from the chrysalis. One of the many I helped raise. They are rather helpless clumsy for the first day. I rescued one out of the water in my back yard. He was fine.
I have a NEW, small stained glass disc made of blown glass by artists at a shop in Rhode Island, USA. The Anchor in the center is the symbol for Hope in Christian symbols and also in the state symbol for Rhode Island. In this new year and always, HOPE abides.

Thank you for taking the time to view my photo, and for the faves and comments you make, thank you.
I am always amazed at the freshness of new Hydrangea blossoms. They promise new beginnings, a fresh start, a new day.
"The chief beauty about time is that you cannot waste it in advance.
The next year, the next day, the next hour are lying ready for you,
as perfect, as unspoiled, as if you had never wasted or misapplied a single moment in all your life.
You can turn over a new leaf every hour if you choose."
~ Arnold Bennett
The new telescopes are making startling new images of our universe. This is just water drops after rain caught in a spiders web about 30 cm inside a tree stump. I was looking for fungi at the time but liked this dark new world too.
Have a good weekend and thanks for your visit.
A new family on Southampton Common. The parents have only just started bringing these new cygnets close enough for me to photograph. See first comment box for another image. Both parents have red marks on their heads, not sure whether they have been marked or just acquired a stain from the water.
