Everyone lives in their own bubble. A bubble of feelings, resentments, pain, loneliness, anguish, illness or just because you want to live in a protected bubble. As a child blows and makes countless bubbles in the air, sometimes the bubbles collide, join, merge... or disappear.

Mural painting depicting the Virgin Mary with the infant Jesus breastfeeding - with an angel watching, dating to the 14th century.
At the church Sant'Andrea, itself dating to the 13th century (first mentioned 1236 - when it replaced an earlier church at the same place) and built in the Romanesque style. The church was badly damaged by bombings during the second world war but has been restored to its original looks.

Although we have some open water there is still a lot of ice and the Loons have not arrived as yet. Perhaps in a week or so they will have returned? Here is an old photo from the archives taken many years ago to tempt their return. :)

Henry Moore’s Mother and Child in St. Paul’s Cathedral

One of the most interesting pieces I found in St. Paul’s Cathedral was Henry Moore’s Mother and Child: Hood. Moore’s semi-abstract sculptures helped create a very specific form of modernism in the United Kingdom.
Completed in 1983 out of travertine marble, Moore’s take on Michelangelo’s Pieta is able to convey the grieving Mary after the crucifixion of Jesus Christ using minimal detail. The characteristic disparity in size between the Madonna and Christ becomes further exaggerated through the abstraction of form. The way Moore nests the two figures strengthens the maternal relationship by creating an almost wombic cradle.
