Holly wearing an outfit from Blythecon 2012: "It's a Shershe thing" dress and Eurotrash helmet. I couldn't be happier with how perfectly they match!
Since the tutorial for this appeared on Strobist, it seems like everyone is after the perfect water droplet...! I'm now searching for sheets of black plexiglas, due to the same website!
Anyway, after my previous effort with the wine glass, I thought I'd try a more basic setup and was very happy with the result. Have about 40 decent results and will probably process a couple more before I start shooting tomatoes on black plexiglas - see website above! ;-)
Footnote: Water had a splash of milk added to it (not too much) and that's where the cloudy colour of the water comes from.

Those wood floors sure do make for nice backgrounds in pictures. :)
Strobist: SB600 used for each of 3 different images. Composited in Photoshop. Used a black straw grid (DIY) and a blue gel.
This male was basking in the morning sunshine on the head of a Crested Dog's-tail grass (Cyanosurus cristatus). Its scientific name "Polyommatus" refers to the many eyes on its underside, whereas icarus is after the character in Greek mythology who flew too near the sun on wings fashioned with wax and feathers.
Well, I still need more practice to get a more even orb. For this one, I used a small LED flashlight which explains the blue tone. I actually did this without hitting myself in the head with the flashlight! LOL I tried another one with sparklers, but they kept going out. Will try sparklers again sometime. To make myself 'invisible', I dressed entirely in black.
Last time I did a light painting of my name and someone said I should do one spelling Zoe (our dog), so that is the shot below.
Have a great week!
I shot this last summer in Bremanger during my trip to Norway. The location is fairly close to the beach where I shot my other photo "Light Blue Night". This is a bit further out to sea, closer to the edge of the mountain to the right.
