Warrior Special
The Warrior Special is a mechanic in Fire Emblem Warriors and Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes. It allows a character to quickly deal considerable damage to all enemies within a large area of effect.
Mechanics
To perform a Warrior Special, the player needs to press the corresponding button once their Warrior Gauge is filled. By default, a Warrior Special is performed by pressing the A button in both games. Each unit has their own separate Warrior gauge that fills separately from other units. By default, each unit only has one Warrior gauge, but by purchasing certain crests or purchasing certain upgrades, the amount of Warrior gauges can be increased to up to three separate gauges.
A Warrior Special's area of effect and damage dealt is determined by the special attack itself. In Warriors, each unit has their own Warrior Special with its own properties. In Three Hopes, a unit's Warrior Special is primarily determined by a unit's class, though each unit has a unique Warrior Special in one or more classes, typically on their preferred class path.
In Warriors, if a unit is paired up with another unit, the back unit will first perform their critical hit animation followed by the front unit performing a unique Warriors Special for pair ups. Both units in that Pair Up will perform their own attack. In Three Hopes, if a unit has an adjutant assigned to them, both units will simply perform their respective Warrior Specials consecutively, with the adjutant going first. This is called a Partner Special. Certain combinations of units, such as Edelgard and Hubert, have unique dialogue with each other when performing a Partner Special.
Filling the Warrior Gauge
The Warrior Gauge can is filled up each time a unit deals or receives damage. The fill rate of the Warrior Gauge can be increased through crests, upgrades, meal effects, or by equipping certain skills. Additionally, collecting yellow tonics on the battlefield will drastically increase a unit's Warrior gauge.
