Magvel

Renais (pronounced /ɹɪˈneɪ/[key][1]; Japanese: ルネス Renais) is one of the countries in Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones. It is located in the center of Magvel, and is the only landlocked country on the continent. Renais shares borders with Frelia to the northwest, Carcino to the northeast, Jehanna to the southeast and Grado to the southwest.

Known rulers of Renais are Fado, until the beginning of The Sacred Stones, and Ephraim, after the events of The Sacred Stones.

History

Founding

Renais was founded by it's respective member of the five heroes 800 years ago. This makes Renais one of the Sacred Stone countries of Magvel; its stone is housed deep within Renais castle, and can only be accessed with both the Solar Brace and the Lunar Brace. These bracelets were forged generations ago by those who were afraid of the Sacred Stone's powers being abused. There is a false Sacred Stone within one of Renais' temples serving as a decoy. The knowledge of the bracelets' true purpose is only told to the next generation of the royal family at the time of their ascensions or in times of dire peril.

Modern day

Modern day Renais shares good relations with all of the other countries of Magvel, especially Frelia. Because of this, Grado's invasion of Renais was highly unanticipated. Being unprepared for such warfare, Renais fell to the Grado army, beginning the War of the Stones.

During the war Renais as a country was plunged into chaos. After the fall of its king, Grado did not send anyone competent to manage the countries civilian and criminal populations, causing the country to be overrun with bandit activity for much of the war. Though Selena of the Imperial Three did offer Eirika, not knowing that she was the princess of Renais, funds to manage some of the criminal infestation.

After the fall of the Grado capital, near the end of the war, Eirika and Ephraim dethroned Orson, who was put in place by Grado, and reclaimed their Renais.
