Mustadio

Mustadio is a Machinist from Final Fantasy Tactics.

The Machinist (機工士, Kikō Shi? or マシーナリー, Mashīnarī?, lit. Machinery), sometimes abbreviated as MCH (, Ki?, lit. Machine), is a job that appears in various games in the Final Fantasy series. Similar to the Gunner, the Machinist is a ranged fighter that uses guns in combat, opting to attack their foes from a distance. Unlike their counterpart, Machinists use two-handed guns, while also using tools and debuffing techniques that prevent enemies from taking action.

Profile[]

The concept of the Machinist would be introduced in Final Fantasy VI, with Edgar's job being referred as such in the newer English localizations. However, the Machinist would not being introduced formally until Final Fantasy Tactics with the character Mustadio Bunansa.

Machinists are known for their expertise with machinery and their ability to handle various devices. The Machinist class is usually a physical class, though its moveset usually has a theme of duality about it, such as using both physical and magical attacks. In some releases, the Machinist's abilities overlap with Gunner's.

The Machinist has gone through an evolution since its introduction in Final Fantasy Tactics. Initially being introduced as a job that had a small pool of debuffing attacks that prevented enemy movement, the Machinist would gain several debilitating moves that lowered enemy stats, while also gaining access to some ranged area attacks. Later entries also gave the Machinist job access to use tools in battle, with their arsenal borrowing heavily from Edgar's Tool command. Final Fantasy Explorers and Final Fantasy XIV would introduce the job's newest ability to create drones and automata in battle, allowing them to have an extra means of inflicting damage.
