  1. (medicine, archaic) A thorough rubbing, as with an ointment or embrocation.
    • 1842, The Veterinarian, volume 15, page 291:
      After some daily perfrications, an exudation of yellowish concretion appears upon the surface, which at the same time becomes tender or sore from the application.
