[edit]American Illustrated Medical Dictionary (1919): "Propping with pillows to immobilize the viscera and thus relieve seasickness." A Practical Medical Dictionary (Stedman, 1922): "Wedging the body in the berth by means of pillows, in order to prevent rolling in case of seasickness."
