[edit]From Latin Osci, Opsci ("worshippers of Ops"), an Italic harvest goddess, related to Latin ops, opis (“riches, wealth, plenty”), from Proto-Indo-European *h₃ep-os- (“work”), from the verbal root *h₃ep- (“to work”).
