[edit]- (Bernheze) Potentially attested as essuic in 1076-1081, attested with certainty as hesewich in 1196. Compound of Old Dutch hese (“brushwood”) and wīc (“farmstead, village, settlement”). Currently part of the twin village of Heeswijk-Dinther.
- (Land van Cuijk) Attested as Heeswijk in 1838-1857. Compound of hees (“brushwood”) and wijk (“village, settlement”).
- (Utrecht) First attested as hesewic and hesewik in 1204. Compound of Old Dutch hese (“brushwood”) and wīc (“farmstead, village, settlement”).
