Gaijin42 has been an editor since May 2006. In December 2013, he started Authoritarianism and gun control RFC at the Gun control talk page.[1] The RfC included two questions:
- 1. Are authoritarian uses of gun control (in particular Nazi, but others as well) sufficiently sourced by reliable sources [with a link to possible sources]
- 2. Is coverage of such gun control appropriate for inclusion in the Gun Control article
The discussion was heated. In January 2014, he submitted a RFAR for gun control as a result of behaviors at the RfC.
On April 30, 2014, Gaijin42, Justanonymous, and ROG5728 were indefinitely topic banned from gun control editing. (A fourth, North8000, was site banned. He and the other three editors supported including Nazi material in the Gun control article.)[2]
From June through November 2014, Gaijin42 averaged 421 edits/month. However, his edits dropped significantly in February 2015. From February through April 2015 he averaged only 72 edits/month.
Godsy started editing in December 2014. He averaged 332 edits/month from January through April 2015.
The pages that Gaijin42 and Godsy have edited in common is short. They have no article overlap, but interesting User talk and Wikipedia overlap.
- User talk:Lightbreather
- User talk:Sandstein
- Wikipedia talk:AutoWikiBrowser/CheckPage
- Wikipedia:Administrator intervention against vandalism
- Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Requests for closure
- Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion
- Wikipedia:Requests for page protection
- Wikipedia:Third opinion
Although they have no articles in common, both are interested in the topic of Nazi gun control. In addition to battling, soapboxing, and putting undue weight[3] on dictators who used "gun control," Gaijin42 was a major contributor to Gun Control in the Third Reich (book)[4] (created by Justanonymous) and he created Stephen Halbrook (the author of Gun Control in the Third Reich). Godsy's foray into gun control editing was at Nazi gun control theory, his first edits to the hatnote and lead.[5][6][7]
Noteworthy words/strings that appear in their edit summaries:
Word/String | Gaijin42 | Godsy |
---|---|---|
nazi | 103 | 55 |
ProveIt [script] | 173 | 7 |
TW [script] | 4195 | 53 |
[Using "Edit summary search" tool]
I manually analyzed their edit histories for Saturday, May 2, 2015, through Friday, May 8, 2015. I don't know how to present the results in an easy-to-read manner, but I assume the investigator will have better tools than I. In a nutshell, during that time, I found no overlapping edits. The heaviest editing day of the week for both editors was Tuesday.
It may be helpful to the investigator to know that, in addition to those already noted, Gaijin42 and Justanonymous have edited quite a number of pages in common. (Most articles included the article talk pages in common, too.):

Today is Mother's Day in the U.S. and I'm taking the day off. Tomorrow, I will respond to the questions and comments here. Lightbreather (talk) 16:18, 10 May 2015 (UTC)
- Addendum to behavioral evidence
As of today, my user talk page is #3 on Gaijin42's "TOP edits per namespace, User talk"[8] and #2 on Godsy's" TOP edits per namespace, User talk."[9] Lightbreather (talk) 18:26, 10 May 2015 (UTC)
In addition, as of today, their ratio of "Thanks" to live edits is identical at 1.8‰, and their ratio of User talk page edits to Article talk page edits are both in the 60‰ to 80‰ range. Lightbreather (talk) 18:34, 10 May 2015 (UTC)

[edit]Accused parties may also comment/discuss in this section below. See Defending yourself against claims.
- If this evidence is as bad as I think it is, I suggest Lightbreather should be banned from filing any further SPI's. Viriditas (talk) 06:52, 10 May 2015 (UTC)
- First of all, it needs to be made clear that Godsy's first edits to Wikipedia were not to Nazi gun control theory, they were various copyedits to completely non-related articles e.g. Bribery, Christian mythology, Scallion. Secondly, his first edits to Nazi gun control theory (over 4 months later) were basically copyedits. He did not remove the fringe theory assertion from the text, merely removed what some might reasonably think was repetitious verbal overkill, although he subsequently became one the many parties involved in the ensuing imbroglio and edit-warring there. His edits to Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion, Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Requests for closure, and other WP and WT pages were overwhelmingly unrelated to Nazi gun control theory (the only gun control article he has ever significantly edited or opined about). The only exception I could find was at Administrators' noticeboard/Requests for closure, and it was one out of several completely unrelated requests made by Godsy there. Note also that he is in Category:Wikipedians willing to provide third opinions and has been since January [10]. Likewise, his edits to User:Sandstein's talk page were entirely unrelated to that article, gun control in general or Lightbreather [11]. And how does Godsy asking for and receiving permission to use AWB along with over 400 other editors constitute proof of anything? I assume that's why Lightbreather has supplied no diffs whatsoever for her assertion that Gaijin42 and Godsy have "interesting User talk and Wikipedia overlap." Godsy may or may not be a new user, but they are certainly not the first nor the last of the legion that Lightbreather has got into a "battle" with. As for the lengthy alleged "overlap" between Gaijin42 and Justanonymous, it has no relevance here unless Lightbreather is asserting that Godsy, Justanonymous, and Gaijin42 are all sockpuppets of each other. This is just about the poorest evidence I have ever seen at an SPI. Voceditenore (talk) 10:37, 10 May 2015 (UTC)
- Actually, it's over 2000 other users who have asked for received AWB. And what's this about "Noteworthy words/strings that appear in their edit summaries"? First of all one word is not a string, and as far as I can see Godsy has never used the word "Nazi" or "nazi" in an edit summary either in article or talk space. Finally, as the Edit Count tool results for Gaijin42 and Godsy show, Godsy has edited most heavily on Mondays and Wednesdays, not Tuesdays (unlike Gaijin42). It also shows that the hours in which they edit most heavily are so different, it suggests they may be in different time zones. Voceditenore (talk) 14:54, 10 May 2015 (UTC)
- Speedy close; what a joke. - Cwobeel (talk) 14:31, 10 May 2015 (UTC)
- So...they both use Twinkle? Anything else (other than the fact that Godsy disagrees with you)? Faceless Enemy (talk) 13:11, 10 May 2015 (UTC)
- I categorically deny the accusation here. There is some minor overlap in interest, and in general wikipedia processes. Traits I share with thousands of other wikipedians. to my knowledge/memory, I have never interacted with Godsy on or off wiki. Gaijin42 (talk) 14:44, 10 May 2015 (UTC)
- Speedy close, I'm not seeing any real indication of socking and I agree with Cwobeel. Lightbreather, can I suggest that it may be a good idea to take a Wikibreak or something. It seems to me that this is not going to end well if you don't take a step back and let go. GregJackP Boomer! 16:31, 10 May 2015 (UTC)

[edit]- Rejected - the evidence provided above is vastly insufficient to support a sockpuppetry claim. Closing as no action. -- Euryalus (talk) 21:40, 10 May 2015 (UTC)
