Invalid FUR--there is no justification for this picture. —Justin (koavf)❤T☮C☺M☯ 04:53, 13 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
- Not really sure what is wrong with this. There are thousands of TV series posters uploaded under the same license and description. What is wrong with it? What is an "FUR" - DONALDderosa (talk) 17:44, 13 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
- FUR is "fair use rationale", an explanation of why the non-free content can be used under copyright laws in Wikipedia. Promotional material is usually kept on Wikipedia articles about commercial media, but usually only one is kept per article. Diego (talk) 11:38, 19 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
- Delete, the poster of the first season is better for visual identification and illustration of the marketing style per WP:NFCI#4. Having two images is against WP:NFCC#1. Diego (talk) 11:38, 19 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Non-free content is used only if its presence would significantly increase readers' understanding of the topic, and its omission would be detrimental to that understanding. This image is not critical for understanding, but is used in a decorative fashion. Since this file does not greatly enhance understanding, nor will its omission greatly decrease understanding, it must be deleted. The image does not critically asses how the angel was designed in the show--it just has a cute, decorative tagline beneath it. —Justin (koavf)❤T☮C☺M☯ 04:58, 13 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
- Keep. Given that the appearance of the winged skeleton is the central element of the episode, the image shows how the creators depicted the "resemblance of an angel" - so yes, removing it would impede understanding of this resemblance and the image is compliant with WP:NFCC#8. The tagline is not descriptive, but the critical assessments of how the skeleton's appearance influences the plot are included throughout the article (they don't need to be in the tagline), making it contextually relevant. Having screenshots for critical commentary of the episode is considered a valid and frequent usage of non-free content per WP:NFCI#5, and this one meets all NFCC. Diego (talk) 11:08, 19 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
- Delete - this image was also used in Archaeology & Animation, where it was unambiguously inappropriate and I have removed it from there. As for its use in the episode article? We used to tolerate images in infoboxen for every single episode of every tv show (heck, we used to even have thumbnails of them in list articles too). We have moved away from that and now the image needs to be important to the user's understanding of the article. Yes, the shape of the skeleton is important and is kinda the whole point of the show, but is there anything that can't be accomplished by saying, "a statue of a skeleton shaped like an angel"? --B (talk) 16:01, 20 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
- Well, if you recognize that the shape of the skeleton is important, right there's the justification for using the image under WP:NFCC#8. What can't be accomplished by saying that there's an skeleton with a certain shape is obviously to show readers how that shape was drawn by the illustrators. If you don't allow images to be used for critical commentary at places where you agree they're relevant, WP:NFCI#5 doesn't make sense. Diego (talk) 20:45, 20 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

This image is not critical for understanding, but is used in a decorative fashion. Since this file does not greatly enhance understanding, nor will its omission greatly decrease understanding, it must be deleted. The design of the characters and how they changed for this episode could be discussed critically, but this image is not used for that purpose anyway. —Justin (koavf)❤T☮C☺M☯ 04:59, 13 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
- Keep The user tried before, failed, then decided to wait and try again. I've fixed things. Since the user admits that the image can be discussed critically and now is, he should withdraw this. -- Scorpion0422 02:57, 16 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
- Withdrawn Assuming that due diligence is followed by keeping the image in the section where production changes are discussed and also assuming that it doesn't take seven years and two deletion discussions to see that non-free media are properly used. —Justin (koavf)❤T☮C☺M☯ 05:44, 16 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

This image is not critical for understanding, but is used in a decorative fashion. Since this file does not greatly enhance understanding, nor will its omission greatly decrease understanding, it must be deleted. This scene isn't discussed critically and The Simpsons has dozens of sight gags in an episode. —Justin (koavf)❤T☮C☺M☯ 05:00, 13 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
- Neutral - it's not true that the image is merely decorative, since it is performing a functional role at illustrating the cultural reference from The Fugitive. But such cultural references are common throughout Simpsons episodes and this one is but one minor reference among several, and not core to the plot - so even if it's contextually relevant and cannot be substituted in its role, I'm not sure that removing it would hurt understanding of the topic. - Keep - it's not true that the image is merely decorative, since it is performing a functional role at illustrating the cultural reference from Dr. Strangelove. Given that the whole episode parodies "60s era nuclear war movies", containing several references to Dr. Strangelove, having one image helps to understand how those several references are incorporated in the episode, showing how the authors copied the visual style and elements of the setting. Having screenshots for critical commentary of the episode is considered a valid and frequent usage of non-free content per WP:NFCI#5, and this one meets all NFCC. - File:Westcliffe Elementary School.jpg (delete | talk | history | links | logs) – uploaded by Westcliffe (notify | contribs | uploads | upload log).
Unused photo of a non-notable elementary school. The school previously had an article at Westcliffe Elementary, but it was redirected to Berea, South Carolina as a result of WP:SCHOOLOUTCOMES. The file description page contains a paragraph about the school, but it is mostly promotional in its tone. —Bkell (talk) 09:41, 13 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
- delete This came from the school website, and I have to think it's unclear whether someone acting on behalf of the school uploaded it. Given the merger to the town I don't think fair use could be justified either. Mangoe (talk) 13:27, 13 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

- File:Tain (Star Trek- DS9).jpg (delete | talk | history | links | logs) – uploaded by Rockfang (notify | contribs | uploads | upload log).
Screenshot of Enabran Tain used in the infobox of The Wire (Star Trek: Deep Space Nine). While Tain does appear and have an important role in the final act of the show, showing him in the infobox is nothing more than a decorative use of a copyrighted image. B (talk) 18:26, 13 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
- Delete: I agree with that assessment. If the article is subsequently expanded and requires the use of an image of Tain for some purpose it can be explained then with on a newly uploaded file. As of right now, it is merely for illustrative purposes. Miyagawa (talk) 19:58, 20 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Unused photo of a soccer player/supporter who appears not to be notable. He is supposedly the founder of a football club, but we don't have an article on that club. —Bkell (talk) 19:03, 13 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
