Keep. Given that the appearance of the winged skeleton is the central element of the episode, the image shows how the creators depicted the "resemblance of an angel" - so yes, removing it would impede understanding of this resemblance and the image is compliant with WP:NFCC#8. The tagline is not descriptive, but the critical assessments of how the skeleton's appearance influences the plot are included throughout the article (they don't need to be in the tagline), making it contextually relevant. Having screenshots for critical commentary of the episode is considered a valid and frequent usage of non-free content per WP:NFCI#5, and this one meets all NFCC. Delete - this image was also used in Archaeology & Animation, where it was unambiguously inappropriate and I have removed it from there. As for its use in the episode article? We used to tolerate images in infoboxen for every single episode of every tv show (heck, we used to even have thumbnails of them in list articles too). We have moved away from that and now the image needs to be important to the user's understanding of the article. Yes, the shape of the skeleton is important and is kinda the whole point of the show, but is there anything that can't be accomplished by saying, "a statue of a skeleton shaped like an angel"? --B (talk) 16:01, 20 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Well, if you recognize that the shape of the skeleton is important, right there's the justification for using the image under WP:NFCC#8. What can't be accomplished by saying that there's an skeleton with a certain shape is obviously to show readers how that shape was drawn by the illustrators. Neutral - it's not true that the image is merely decorative, since it is performing a functional role at illustrating the cultural reference from The Fugitive. But such cultural references are common throughout Simpsons episodes and this one is but one minor reference among several, and not core to the plot - so even if it's contextually relevant and cannot be substituted in its role, I'm not sure that removing it would hurt understanding of the topic. Keep - it's not true that the image is merely decorative, since it is performing a functional role at illustrating the cultural reference from Dr. Strangelove. Given that the whole episode parodies "60s era nuclear war movies", containing several references to Dr. Strangelove, having one image helps to understand how those several references are incorporated in the episode, showing how the authors copied the visual style and elements of the setting. Having screenshots for critical commentary of the episode is considered a valid and frequent usage of non-free content per WP:NFCI#5, and this one meets all NFCC. I don't have the original email unfortunately as proof still since it was some time ago that I uploaded it. He was prepared to let me upload it as my own work solely (to make it easier) however I felt it was right to credit him for the photo. Unused photo of a non-notable elementary school. The school previously had an article at Westcliffe Elementary, but it was redirected to Berea, South Carolina as a result of WP:SCHOOLOUTCOMES. Screenshot of Enabran Tain used in the infobox of The Wire (Star Trek: Deep Space Nine). While Tain does appear and have an important role in the final act of the show, showing him in the infobox is nothing more than a decorative use of a copyrighted image.
