Hey, sorry for the delayed response! I'll take a look at the article and add any sources I can. Yes of course I have the Whitburn Dance/Disco book  :-P eo (talk) 10:28, 14 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The article looks great and the references are formatted just fine. The only thing I would change is the informal tone of referring to him as "Paul" (use his last name instead). Sorry for not being quick with the book references, I just bought a place and moved about 2 weeks ago so I am still living in an ocean of boxes and unpacked things. My Dance/Disco book is out there.... somewhere....  :-\ eo (talk) 19:00, 24 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Peter Gabriel

[edit]

Thanks for the heads up! I remember those edits. Those are always tough because you don't know if they're randomly changing the numbers, or if they're updating the article. I'm almost certain they were just playing with the numbers to suit them. I'll keep an eye on them.

BTW, what articles like Peter Gabriel discography really need are citations, so at least it would be easy for vandal fighters to figure out what's going on. Is any of your data online? --JaGa (talk) 06:40, 22 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

  • Looks like Abrazame beat me to the citations - he just hadn't put in a reflist. I fixed that up, reviewed Jman505's edits, and gave him a warning about the future. Hopefully that'll keep this under control. Thanks so much for your work on this very sneaky vandal! --JaGa (talk) 08:12, 22 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

July 2008

[edit]

Whoops, sorry about that. To me it looked like you were changing all the categories to the song name. Warning removed, no worries. :) RainbowOfLight Talk 12:08, 7 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Zephyrnthesky! All my apologies: indeed, this song was not #1, but reached only #11. A few months ago, I added several charts in the table of this article, including Billboard AC, and apparently I made a mistake. Best regards and sorry for my bad English (it's not my native language!). Best regards, Europe22 (talk) 10:30, 7 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your edits to this page. — Wackymacs (talk ~ edits) 06:47, 3 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

re:Lovely Day (song)

[edit]

What you've done here is very good. I agree these should be together in one article - the two versions in particular you mentioned rely heavily on the original: SOUL SYSTEM is a cover version, although the verses were changed and the chorus remained and Brancaccio & Aisher is definitely based on a prominent sample (I actually have this record and I still pull it out sometimes in my DJ sets, some of the remixes are lovely). I'm thinking we can add the succession boxes to the bottom - I can take care of this if you don't get to it. - eo (talk) 09:56, 14 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Will to Power (Band)

[edit]

You made a mistake on Will to Power page. "Deamin'" was #1 on 12" Dance Sales chart. I don't believe they still have that chart but it WAS a #1 Hit. Perhaps you can change it back? AKATheBeast (talk) 00:30, 18 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Zep, you recently created this article. Could you please source it and possibly get back to me with feedback. Currently without sources the song lacks notability and would be nominated for deletion. A sourced release date and chart positions would be helpful. Cheers. — Realist2 05:33, 18 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

If it was a double A side (check for sure whether it was a b-side or double A-side), we could join the two articles together. Very much like Scream/Childhood. You did a good job though. — Realist2 06:43, 18 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
No problem, I'm sure they can stay separate, but I hell would like to know the true connection between the two, even if it's different from country to country. — Realist2 07:06, 18 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

mjtunes.com has some info of the single going to be released in the US but Epic Records issued a cease and decist order. I don't know if that's a valid source, but I do recall the song receiving much radio airplay in the summer of '84. --Wolfer68 (talk) 00:59, 19 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I don't know if it is either. Thank you. Zephyrnthesky (talk) 07:12, 19 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yes I'm Ready

[edit]

I was following your comments on edits regarding "Tell Me I'm Not Dreamin'", and saw your interest in creating an article for the "Yes I'm Ready" duet by Teri DeSario and KC, and originally by Barbara Mason. The article already created for "Yes, I'm Ready" by LaToya Jackson is a cover of this song as well. So, there is really no need to create a new article at all. These can all be highlighted by expanding the current article. Thanks. --Wolfer68 (talk) 18:23, 27 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

First of all, let me tell you that you are one of the best wiki-editors that I have come across, in terms of the articles that I like to read up on. You create articles on a topic I am most interested in: pop singles and their success on the Billboard charts. If it seems I am following you around, it is for these reasons. You write very informative and well-referenced articles on many of these songs, and I have come to look forward to new articles you create on wikipedia. But if I am reading one of your articles and feel there is a necessary edit, I will make it (like the Robert Palmer cover of "Tell Me I'm Not Dreamin'"). I hope you don't regard this as "stalking", but to me it's like opening up the newspaper to read my favorite columnist. Anyway, on articles I edit, I tend to notice 6-10 other wiki-editors that come up on many of them.
In terms of the "Yes I'm Ready" article, just redirect the new article you created to the original and merge your additional info into that one. --Wolfer68 (talk) 19:53, 27 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Dan Fogelberg singles

[edit]

Thank you for your recent contributions to Dan Fogelberg and the articles about some of his songs. Do you have information about all of his songs that charted? I think it was me that created the original version of the Singles chart based on the information from the 1985 edition of the Billboard Book of Top 40 hits. It's very likely he had other songs prior to 1985 that made the Billboard Hot 100 but didn't get as high up the chart as the Top 40. If you have this information available and could add it to the chart it would be much appreciated. It would also be good to add a column for highest charted position on the Adult Contemporary chart (as well as adding any songs that made that chart but not the Hot 100). He released a cover of Rhythm of the Rain somewhere around 1990 that received a fair bit of airplay and I'd be surprised if it didn't reach least one of the two charts. --Mwalimu59 (talk) 19:22, 5 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed deletion of Carl Horvath

[edit]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Carl Horvath, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Speedy deletion of Fuck Me I'm Famous

[edit]

A tag has been placed on Fuck Me I'm Famous, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to have no meaningful content or history, and the text is unsalvageably incoherent. If the page you created was a test, please use the sandbox for any other experiments you would like to do. Feel free to leave a message on my talk page if you have any questions about this.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Speedy deletion of Cozi Costi

[edit]

A tag has been placed on Cozi Costi requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Ernest Kinoy et al.

[edit]

Yup, I'll add a few thoughts to the Ernest Kinoy talk page later tonight. Actually what struck me is something that shouldn't go there, and that's the other articles that are probably candidates for creation. There are a couple of radio and televisions shows: The DuPont Show of the Month/Week is one, there were a couple of other early live drama shows that I noticed and you came across the Rocky Fortune show :).

I saw the Rocky Fortune show when I was just following up George Lefferts (an article that also needs expansion), but I hadn't noticed the Kinoy connection. There are a few other shows out there that were all notable in their day. FlowerpotmaN·(t) 17:34, 29 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

All About Eve

[edit]

Hi, no, I don't mind long-winded comments on my talk page. I think we're viewing this issue with a very similar attitude. I don't think it's mandatory for a film article to have either an "interpretations" or a "critical analysis" section. If it's done correctly and attributed to people who have the right to speak on such subjects - the writers or directors, sometimes the actors, sometimes the producers, sometimes notable critics - it can be useful. Other than that, I think it is counterproductive. I find the type of dubious commentary in All About Eve is no more than original research. I'd be much more willing to accept it if it came from Mankiewicz. The book I mentioned, All About All About Eve, contains some discussion that is attributed to Mankiewicz and to a lesser extent attributed to Anne Baxter in her interpretation of Eve. Those comments would be relevant, perhaps. Even so, it's just one of the themes that could be discussed, and to discuss it with exploring other themes, reeks of WP:UNDUE and even suggests an agenda. (Interestingly, the author of All About All About Eve, Sam Staggs, also wrote Close-Up on Sunset Boulevard. Both are good to read, are written in an engaging and humorous style, but more importantly seem to be well sourced, and give insights into the intentions of Mankiewicz and Wilder.)

Your Madonna example is similar to one that is currently repeating itself at Tina Turner. Because there are several external articles in existence that call Tina an 'icon', some editors feel that we can use that as justification to call her that too. POV is POV no matter how widely it's held. It's the same thing here - interpretation of a film's theme is seen differently by different people. We must be careful how we convey that, in order to maintain neutrality. It's not an easy thing. I agree that the integrity of the article is undermined by this ill-conceived, inappropriate and poorly executed attempt at interpretation, by someone who otherwise chooses not to engage in any meaningful discussion.

I also take exception to the fact that the section was removed a few months ago, following discussion and was immediately reverted without so much as an edit summary. I'll have another look at the article talk page and comment, when I have a little more time (in the next day or so), but I think we have ample justification to remove the entire section, especially considering that consensus was originally to remove it. I don't care about the homophobia accusations, and if someone wants to throw that at me, they couldn't be more wrong, and it will just bounce off me. If that's the best someone can come up with to support the inclusion of unsourced material, it only proves how shaky their case is. Rossrs (talk) 21:40, 30 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I'm glad you were amused by some of my subpages. I'd kind of forgotten about them. I also think waiting a week to delete is a good idea. That's plenty of time for discussion. Rossrs (talk) 10:16, 1 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Kentucky and Nebraska

[edit]

You're quite welcome. While I watch most Nebraska community articles, I don't watch any Kentucky communities; the way I noticed Grahn was your addition of it to the county template. How I wish that everyone would do that! So often it's a matter of finding the article months after it was created. Nyttend (talk) 03:33, 2 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Slightly Ernest Kinoy related....

[edit]

OK, not very related, but I was indulging my inner geek and was listening to various vintage radio programmes from the western side of the Atlantic; actually it is a thing that I got hooked on a couple of months ago and is the reason I originally realized that Kinoy should have an article in the first place as I came across the name on an old radio program, sort of recognized the name from somewhere else, looked him up and the idea for the article developed from there. However I digress :).

Anyhoo, I was listening to one of the Dimension X programmes and to my complete surprise came across this completely unexpected tidbit. Perhaps not hugely relevant to the article, but my inner geek had to add it. If I am adding and subtracting for time differences correctly, it is possibly one of the first newsflashes indicating that the Korean War had begun.

I should have time over the weekend to get around to doing a bit more with the Kinoy article and I might take a shot at an article ot two that should be created. FlowerpotmaN·(t) 21:10, 8 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Cheers for the catch on my goof there. Only happens the times I don't check. Yeah, I was thinking of doing a few of the early 60's shows such as the DuPont show and possibly one or two radio shows. And surely Rocky Fortune deserves an article, if you want to take a shot. I listened to one of the shows and I spent most of it expecting Sinatra to do the old "She opened the door in her nightgown" joke.
Have to say that in terms of online sources, American radio and television shows have a lot more available on the web than anything on this side of the pond. I was trying to dig up sources for one or two BBC radio comedies I listened to from the mid to late 80s, which were quite possibly going to be at risk of deletion for lack of references, and it was a hard slog. I was a bit surprised on the grounds that I know there were copious contemporary print sources (I read them at the time :)), but anything before the mid 90's proved a problem in terms of online sources.
One of these days I am going to get around to digging out enough sources for a programme called "Take the Floor" which was on Irish radio, which was quite a bit before my time, but had the distinction of being the only Irish dancing radio programme. (Take a second to think about that if you want.) Yup, sounds a tad eccentric and it is still the butt of jokes 40+ years later, but apparently the programme was successful because the radio audience were able to work out and picture the dance by listening to the sound of the feet tapping. Ah, those were the days when not only did dance programmes not need celebrities, they didn't need television. FlowerpotmaN·(t) 22:17, 8 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
(Reply) Wow, excellent work with Rocky Fortune. More than I had a chance to find; I missed the various guest stars for example; awheck, you had a lot more than I had to start the article :). I dropped in a link to the Sustaining program article; you can see why he might have been plugging From Here to Eternity for all he was worth when his radio programme couldn't get sponsorship. I came across another show he was doing for NBC, To Be Perfectly Frank, which ran from November 53 to July 54, so pretty much the same time as Rocky. FlowerpotmaN·(t) 00:19, 10 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
(Reply Part II) Yup, the show you found on the RTÉ website is the one I was talking about; I am not sure if the BBC Scotland show was inspired by itor if it was just co-incidence that they have the same name. Although I think it will be along time before I get around to diong that one. While I have the chance over the long weekend here, I am going to try and catch up on things I let slide over the last couple of months. Circumstances leading me to have someone else's rather good bookshelf temporarily means I can do a bit of remedial work on a few articles that need sourcing, but I should get around to more fun stuff. FlowerpotmaN·(t) 00:38, 10 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I was posting my last message just as I got your last message. Sure, I'll drop a few messages here over the weekend, if I come across anything useful.... and good grief, I am typing a lot here, judging by how much of my stuff I had to scroll through. Olam Tzafuf

[edit]

Can you please refrain from making edits to Olam Tzafuf, they were quite unhelpful and the two edits; "Recorded = June 1982 to February 1983" and "Olam Tzafuf ("Crowded World") is a 1983 album by the Israeli rock band HaClique.", were completely unhelpful.

Sorry Zephyr your edits were not unhelpful, I just saw that you had placed a "to" between June 1982 and February 1983, this is not the case. But I hape replaced the category and have made 'The name of the article that appears in the lead sentence' bold.

Thanks Zephyr, you did the right thing to assume that the album was recorded between rather than separately on those months. I am a fan of their music, they're one of my favourite bands, my favourite being The Blockheads. I don't think their music is on the US iTunes Store, it's on the UK and Canadian, but if you search "The Clique" on www.israel-music.com, you should find their boxset (highly reccomended)!!

I Believe in a Thing Called Love

[edit]

Thanks for the catch. That was definitely a mistake on my part. I was doing some copy & pasting across different songs and had intended to add the Category:The Darkness songs to it, which I was doing to the group's other songs too. Thanks for making the correction as well. --Wolfer68 (talk) 05:17, 3 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding the difference in the number of number-one singles on the article Billboard Hot 100 (973) and the number shown in the category Category:Billboard Hot 100 number-one singles (980), I believe the discrepancy lies in the fact that some double-sided hit singles count as one due to chart rules at the time, while with each song having a separate article and being categorized as a number-one, the number categorized as number one would be higher. The Hot 100 article is there, so count that one out, but then there are these:

I'm not positive about that this is the reason, but it would account for the difference. --Wolfer68 (talk) 08:26, 3 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The year 2011 has brought many changes to the State of Colorado. We have a new Governor and other state officers, two new U.S. Representatives, many new state legislators, and a new Mayor of Denver. WikiProject Colorado is updating many Colorado articles. Many Colorado places, people, and organizations need new articles. Portal:Colorado needs new featured articles.

Can you help us? Please see our list of some requested articles. If you wish, you may join WikiProject Colorado at Wikipedia:WikiProject Colorado/Members. If you have any questions, please leave me a message at User talk:Buaidh or e-mail me at Special:EmailUser/Buaidh. Thanks for any help you can provide.

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. The article Mark Picchiotti has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Non-notable musician

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Walter Görlitz (talk) 00:26, 7 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Nomination of Mark Picchiotti for deletion

[edit]

A discussion is taking place as to whether the article Mark Picchiotti is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Mark Picchiotti until a consensus is reached, and anyone is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on high-quality evidence and our policies and guidelines.

Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion notice from the top of the article. Walter Görlitz (talk) 15:31, 8 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
