Welcome!

Some cookies to welcome you! :D

Welcome to Wikipedia, I am a Wikipedian! I am Megalodon99 and have been editing Wikipedia for quite some time. I just wanted to say hi and welcome you to Wikipedia! If you have any questions, feel free to leave me a message on my talk page or by typing {{helpme}} at the bottom of this page. I love to help new users, so don't be afraid to leave a message! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Oh yeah, I almost forgot, when you post on talk pages you should sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); that should automatically produce your username and the date after your post. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or place {{helpme}} on your talk page and ask your question there. Again, welcome! RS

[edit]

My rs name is the same as my user name: Megalodon99. I'm not sure if you saw it, but I also am at the rs wiki (inactive though) as an admin there. It's nice to meet another runescapian. You may want to add {{User:Scepia/RuneScape}} to your user page, as it will produce the same WP:userbox as is on my user page. Just a suggestion. Thanks for coming by my talk page, having people say thanks for being welcomed really makes my day. Hope to see you on RS soon. BTW, what is your RS username? Megalodon99 Talk 00:28, 29 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'll add you next time I'm on RS. I like your userpage, and 100% agree with the statement about teachers. Thankfully my writing teacher allows me to cite it, which has helped a ton. Cya around. Megalodon99 Talk 13:27, 29 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Well, on smaller wikis, there are not many people or edits, so checking recent changes shows sometimes a few hours of edits. And most of the people at those wikis know eachother, so someone new editing get their attention. Here I found you at this page. I go there a lot, because I'm trying to welcome 1000 new users. Userboxes

[edit]

Thanks for the compliment! I was quite fond of the "This user is standing behind you" one. I actually don't deserve much credit for the binary one; it's not my quote. I found it here. By the way, if you ever want me to make you a userbox, just ask on my talk page. Cheers! You're dreaming eh? 04:10, 4 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Adoption offer

[edit]

Hello I am HarrisonB, an experienced editor that has been with Wikipedia for over a year now. In that time I have contibuted to Good Articles, created articles for Wikipedia's Did You Know, created a portal (being the Australian cars portal and many other things. Would you like to be 'adopted' to me? HarrisonB - Talk 03:51, 3 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

  • Not really, it mainly means that I am a person that you go to for advice or questions, and I guide you through wikipedia. If you're still not sure just check out WP:ADOPT. :) BTW thankyou for accepting the offer. HarrisonB - Talk 06:37, 6 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Setting up on Wikipedia

[edit]

Ok, now that you are getting used to the place; it is time to start joining Wikiprojects that revolve around your interets and start editing! I am personally involved in three Wikiprojects: Australia, Automobiles and Rugby League (not very active on the last one). What are you interested in? Request to participate in University of Washington survey on tool to quickly understand Wikipedians’ reputations

[edit]

Hello. I'm part of a research group at the University of Washington. In April, we met with Wikipedians to learn what they would like to know about other editors’ history and activities (within Wikipedia) when interacting with them on talk pages. The goal was to gather feedback to help design a tool that could quickly communicate useful information about other Wikipedians. We have now created a few images that we feel represent some of what our participants thought was important. We would appreciate it if you took a few minutes of your time to complete an online survey that investigates whether or not these images would be useful to you. Your quick contribution would be very valuable to our research group and ultimately to Wikipedia. (When finished, the code for this application will be given over to the Wikipedia community to use and/or adjust as they see fit.)

We are particularly interested in feedback from new editors! We want to make sure this tool meets your needs.

Willing to spend a few minutes taking our survey? Click this link.

Please feel free to share the link with other Wikipedians. The more feedback, the better! The survey is completely anonymous and takes less than 10 minutes to complete. All data is used for university research purposes only.

Thank you for your time! If you have any questions about our research or research group, please visit our user page. Commprac01 (talk) 23:09, 12 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
