IPv6 user blocked

I noticed that you blocked all four users I mentioned at Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Judaism#IPv6_user_needs_careful_review. Is that coincidence? What was the reason they were blocked? Debresser (talk) 10:48, 2 February 2020 (UTC)

@Debresser: Yes, it is a coincidence; I hadn't noticed your message ... I found that IP on my watchlist. I've been spending all day trying to deal with their edits ... I'm going to check the rest of my watchlist now, and might continue later. I've gotten to about 13 January (UTC) on the range ... Graham87 11:08, 2 February 2020 (UTC)

sorry about reverting your macaron edit

I lost track of which was the original version and which was the revert. Petit four and alfajor are both legitimate articles. I've put both in now. Dan Bloch (talk) 02:58, 3 February 2020 (UTC)

@Danbloch: That's alright. Some edits by the IP range I'm dealing with seem relatively OK, like that one, but many ... aren't. Your compromise sounds good. Graham87 03:00, 3 February 2020 (UTC)

Import of articles (Kroos / Resistance Fighters)

Dear Graham87, thank you for getting back to us. Your colleagues from the German Wikipedia told us that we need to contact the staff of the English Wikipedia to be able to create the articles in another language. If I understand you correctly we have to request an import into our userspace in the English Wikipedia, then we complete the translation and then we'll import it to the main space? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Btvwiki (talkcontribs) 12:14, 12 February 2020 (UTC)

Your recent block of Mlopezer

Hi. Not meaning any disrespect here, but as an outside observer I think your indef block of Mlopezer is more than a little harsh. To me it doesn't seem as though they meet any of the points discussed at WP:DISRUPT, and they have never been warned for any of the dozen or so examples of overlinking or any of their other edits. To be clear I'm not in any way connected to Mlopezer, I just saw your revert at Amanda Reid on my watchlist. Regards, Gricehead (talk) 10:10, 20 March 2020 (UTC)

Wow and I just learned that you are using JAWS... I'm impressed that it's possible to navigate article history and evaluate revisions as well. Thanks again, —PaleoNeonate20:03, 28 March 2020 (UTC)
@PaleoNeonate: No worries ... I reverted as many of those edits as I could. Anything I'd want to do here is accessible with a screen reader ... I'm glad that MediaWiki and Wikipedia are well-designed enough to make this possible. `Graham87 02:39, 29 March 2020 (UTC)

Recent IP Block - March 2020

I applaud you for dealing with IP 109.158.146.23 - that behaviour is totally unacceptable of them. But considering what I saw on their talk page, I think the IP is only here to be disruptive; they obviously aren't taking notice of the block seriously enough. GUtt01 (talk) 18:32, 23 March 2020 (UTC)

@GUtt01: Yeah I did notice that ... I thought I'd just let them be, unless they did anymore of that, which they haven't so far. Graham87 03:08, 24 March 2020 (UTC)

Merging history

Can you help me merge User:KAVEBEAR/sandbox/Hui Aloha Aina with Hui Aloha ʻĀina? I had the article waiting in my sandbox until another user created a stub. The bulk of the content from sandbox was merged into the article so it is important to restore the history of the article from its inception in 2016. KAVEBEAR (talk) 15:35, 26 March 2020 (UTC)

@KAVEBEAR: Done, even though it's not strictly necessary in terms of attribution of authors (which is what history-merging is technically for) (since you were the only editor of the sandbox). However, it's nice to have the time of the edits readily available and there were no overlapping edits, making the history still fairly straightforward. Graham87 15:51, 26 March 2020 (UTC)
And it's also nice to have the *number* of edits you made readily available too ... I forgot about that! Graham87 15:55, 26 March 2020 (UTC)
Thank you. KAVEBEAR (talk) 16:01, 26 March 2020 (UTC)

Unsourced edits

Greetings, why would I site a source such as a birthday or an organization they are in that is clearly available everywhere? Are you the edit supervisor? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sheknowsallthings (talkcontribs) 23:55, 8 April 2020 (UTC)

Ok, I just realized what you are saying. So to update a birthday, I would have to add the source, even if the birthday is not on the page? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sheknowsallthings (talkcontribs) 00:03, 9 April 2020 (UTC)

How do you edit?

How is it possible to edit when you are totally blind? Do you type, or use something different?

I'm just interested. Commuter3 (talkcontribs) 05:29, 11 April 2020 (UTC)

Sources

Quick question, do we have the capability of uploading the document as a source? Reason being, I am seeing a lot of incorrect information and the cite links used don't work or a loop hole link (they are siting a source that is incorrect as well). For instance, Pauline Oberdofer Minor, the info about her birth date is from the Census (through ancestry.com); if I send the cite the actually web link, it will come up blank. Are we looking for the actual link to the given information (with the info shown) or simply where the info is being stored? Is there a possibility that I can send you the documents to show what I am doing is correct? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sheknowsallthings (talkcontribs) 21:42, 20 April 2020 (UTC)

@Gerda Arendt: Wow, I love Monteverdi! And there's the Brianboulton connection too ... Graham87 03:54, 16 May 2020 (UTC)
I boldly nominated the vespers for FAC, yesterday. I wish you could see the image on my user page, showing the interior of a bright modern church, simple basilica with high walls from natural stones, a band of windows all around right under the flat wooden ceiling, packed with people listening: that's us performing the Vespers on 1 September 2019, anniversary of the dedication to the Pope (which was sheer coincidence). --Gerda Arendt (talk) 06:20, 16 May 2020 (UTC)
@Gerda Arendt: Awwww, that sounds amazing! Graham87 06:23, 16 May 2020 (UTC)
Yes, it was. Best concert of my life - which was full of exceptional concerts so far. - I just checked numbers: 82k+ viewers for Moteverdi, 2,6k+ for the Vespers, 2.1k+ for L'Orfeo, - good to know that Brian's work got noticed. I woke up with the idea to make a table with three columns: what vespers liturgy prescribes - what Monteverdi composed - the combination in something like we had, a service, offering antiphons also which he didn't compose because they change with the occasion. It's like prescribed parts of the mass (Kyrie, Gloria ...) vs. the changing ones (introit, offerory). Will have to think about how to organize that. - What I should do is take care of the many open requests on my talk ... which I all postponed saying wait for Monteverdi ;) --Gerda Arendt (talk) 06:32, 16 May 2020 (UTC)

Ear Canal modification

Hello, I need your help with the modifications I made to the Ear Canal article and you reverted. I am in fact a licensed audiologist and ear anatomy is an important part of my job. I was reading the Wikipedia article and I noticed a big mistake, which I corrected. It is the first time I do that on Wikipedia. Please correct this, I am not familiar enough with Wikipedia and editing rules, nor with messages and talk pages, all I wish is to see that mistake corrected. Thank you for your help. Dark Light D (talk) 14:30, 8 May 2020 (UTC)

Sorry to say, I do not understand how this message system works. Even with this message I don't know if I am doing things right, so bear with me.
I checked multiple sources and found some of them indicating one thing and others indicating just the opposite.

Frankly, I'm now at this point where I didn't believe that such a simple thing could change over time.

I put below two sources that sustain my info, but I'm confused as to what I found, so my guess would be to leave things as they are. Live and learn, apparently...[1][2]
Thank you, this has been a new experience. Dark Light D (talk) 11:13, 9 May 2020 (UTC)

Australian Premier League

Hi Graham

Thank you for your assistance in helping us learn about wikipedia. I'll admit we are very new to this.

firstly I can assure you that I, James GRAY (Jimmywiki14) and Corbinwiki are both different people.

We are in the process of setting up the premier league and are trying to extend its legitimacy. If you check this page https://sleeper.app/leagues/546632871418458112 You will see that I am the Newcastle Joeys in the AFC East Corbin is Dynasty Corbin the commisioner of the league.

I do apologise for the mistakes.

If you could please see our twitter page https://twitter.com/APL_FF and check the persons who are in the league they are of significant popularity/respect in the fantasy community.

There is nothing sinister in our actions.

If you have an advice to us about how to succeed in what we are trying to establish it would be much appreciated.

James Gray

ps, I should also add that the mobile update was made by me on my mobile, and I was just tidying up my work from my employment PC — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jimmywiki14 (talkcontribs) 05:53, 29 May 2020 (UTC)

Thank you Graham. I promise our intention was not to offend. Nor would I really suggest that we were trying to promote the league in that sense. More just establishing our footing. Please note that i declared a conflict of interest in creating the page to be fully transparent. I expect us to have significant coverage in the fantasy space within the coming weeks. It was a misunderstanding of mine that more links to the page would assist. In hindsight it was actually very dumb. I do assure you that CJwiki and I are different people. But were both trying to achieve the same goal. I am using my mobile to make this reply. So please excuse my formatting James Jimmywiki14 (talk) 06:32, 29 May 2020 (UTC)

Yeah I understand. I Shall definitely read that in more depth. I started going through it when our page was declined. Thanks for the advice. Are u able to fix my mates profile so we can both work on our draft page in a sandbox environment until its in a position to be activated properly. James Jimmywiki14 (talk) 09:13, 29 May 2020 (UTC)

Thanks again. I'm confident in the exposure the league will get. Though my worry is that there might not be a Wikipedian with enough interest in fantasy football to write about it. But I guess we will see in time. Jimmywiki14 (talk) 10:02, 29 May 2020 (UTC)

Truth table import

Have you seen the crazy difference figures displayed in the last few entries on Special:PageHistory/Truth table? Has that occured since you imported old revisions? SpinningSpark 13:12, 3 June 2020 (UTC)

@Spinningspark: Yes, that's T114806 and has occurred with all imports in every wiki until the bug was fixed in 2015. Graham87 13:26, 3 June 2020 (UTC)
If the bug is fixed, how come the history on this page is still wrong? Are imports prior to 2015 going to be wrong forever? SpinningSpark 16:40, 3 June 2020 (UTC)
@Spinningspark: Because that bug wasn't fixed retroactively. Yes, byte differences in revision histories from the time before that bug was fixed will probably be wrong forever, or at least for a very long time. The more general case of wrong byte values in revision histories (which I probably should have mentioned in my previous message) is T38976. Graham87 01:38, 4 June 2020 (UTC)

Long rangeblock

Sorry if you've been asked about this before. I came across an account request on the range 180.190.0.0/16 (block range · block log (global) · WHOIS (partial)) which you've anonblocked for 3 years, and I see Favonian modified your block later to revoke talk page access. Three years on a /16 seems incredibly excessive to me; I couldn't see anything in the IP's contribs that seemed like it would warrant a 3-year block on such a large range, but admittedly I didn't spend a whole lot of time on it. Before I process the request could you provide any insight? Cheers. Ivanvector (Talk/Edits) 15:44, 23 June 2020 (UTC)

@Ivanvector: A narrower (if only by a factor of 4) and possibly more appropriate range would be 180.190.64.0/18 which has an interesting history, having been previously blocked by such luminaries as Berean Hunter and DeltaQuad. Favonian (talk) 18:36, 23 June 2020 (UTC)
@Ivanvector and Favonian: I was dealing with a user who constantly made borderline-to-disruptive edits to articles about lists of people (e.g. List of French people) and was unresponsive to feedback; see User talk:180.190.255.20. JackintheBox also dealt with this person. The blocks were remarkably effective in stopping the disruption ... but they were perhaps rather harsh, and maybe I should've made them softblocks, at the least. I'd be OK with them being reduced/undone without consultation. Graham87 02:51, 24 June 2020 (UTC)
Thanks for the explanations. Favonian, your links to BH and DQ's block log entries gives me another avenue to investigate, thanks for that.
The problem I have besides the block being long and wide is that account requests from the range are getting tagged by ACC volunteers for checkuser followup, and the block is so old now that there's not really anything we can look at to compare, but that's their procedure. For very large and long blocks, if you're targeting anons and concerned about collateral damage, you can add <!-- ACC ignore --> to the block rationale so that volunteers should disregard it and not add it to our queue and back things up, or consider a softblock like you said, if you're after an IP-hopper who you're confident won't just create an account and continue editing disruptively. You can ping a checkuser to take a look, too; we won't report back on connections between accounts and IPs of course, but there's behind-the-scenes stuff we can do. Thanks for your help. Ivanvector (Talk/Edits) 13:51, 25 June 2020 (UTC)
@Ivanvector: Thanks ... aha, that's what the ACC ignore flag is for! I've gone and turned the blocks into softblocks. Graham87 14:13, 25 June 2020 (UTC)

Japanese Emperors

Is there a reason why you are doing all of these page moves? - Knowledgekid87 (talk) 21:01, 23 June 2020 (UTC)

@Knowledgekid87: Because I'm history-merging the articles. I'll probably do some more checking later to find out if any more Japanese emperor pages need history merges, but I don't think I'll find too many more cases. Graham87 02:54, 24 June 2020 (UTC)
I've checked and I can't find any more Japanese emperor articles that need history merges. Graham87 09:10, 24 June 2020 (UTC)

Archiving by bot InternetArchiveBot

I noticed that today in change [1] and a number of others you removed an archived link as the original is not dead. This is great. At[2] there is a list of articles in New South Wales which uses this Post office link, most of which have been archived by ‎InternetArchiveBot, This bot archived another one at the same you fixed another at [3] There is also a problem in the archived version does not work because the search function does not work in the archived version. How can we stop this bot from doing this and how can they all be corrected? I have been looking at this problem over the past couple of weeks.Fleet Lists (talk) 06:49, 26 June 2020 (UTC)

no sock puppet involved

Tony Rodi (talk) 10:08, 28 June 2020 (UTC) Hi Merbabu This was not my edit for Circular Quay. There was no sock puppet involved. Your assumption clearly demonstrates your unfounded opinion referring to "bad" information. Information is either correct or incorrect. "Good" or "bad" are you personal opinion and therefore irrelevant. And yet you accuse me of you own personal bias and editing self promotion. You have also deleted information re the Anti-wall Committee leaving the article meaningless. My involvement and that of Jack Mundey were essential on both the Opera House Precinct East (Circular Quay} and "Gateway Site" (First Fleet Landing Site) development controversies. In fact Jack Mundey was only involved through invitation by the committee I initiated. I have referred to a newspaper article in The Sydney Morning Herald, and you have discounted it in spite of the fact that the article is about several world renown celebrities supporting myself, whilst criticising the source publishing instead of reading the article itself. Your revision editing is in fact appalling and ignorant to the extreme. I have now referred the matter to Wikimedia, and will also contact Wikipedia Administration. You are not promoting collaboration. You are promoting you own unfounded opinions and ignorance. Please stop your unwarranted waring. Tony Rodi (talk) 10:08, 28 June 2020 (UTC)

As I said, I don't want to get involved in this at all. Graham87 10:16, 28 June 2020 (UTC)

Bookshare article proposed for deletion

Hi, I'm Jim Fruchterman, a longtime Wikipedia editor with a COI when it comes to Bookshare (even though I'm not CEO of Benetech anymore, I am the founder). It's being proposed for deletion, and for a good reason: it's a terrible, poorly sourced article. Do you have any interest in helping clean this up as a subject matter expert? There are lots of quality source materials out there. JRandomF (talk) 16:38, 30 June 2020 (UTC)
