First of all the Beans are collected and fermented for 3-7 days. The Beans are ground and roasted then the Nib taken out. The Nibs are ground which releases Cocoa Butter (The Natural Fat of the Cocoa Bean) which melts and form cocoa liquor. This is then blended with different amounts of Cocoa Butter to make different chocolate: Dark chocolate: sugar, cocoa butter, cocoa liquor, and (sometimes) vanilla Milk chocolate: sugar, cocoa butter, cocoa liquor, milk or milk powder, and vanilla White chocolate: sugar, cocoa butter, milk or milk powder, and vanilla This liquid is kept liquid by a process called conching. After this it is finally tempered. Now it is ready to be Stored and Sold.


Choclate in Media and Culture Chocolate is famous worldwide for its lovely taste and flavour. One of the more popular things are chocolate fountains. These stepped pyramids flow lovely hot chocolate out of the top. You can get small personal ones and huge proffesional Ones.

Chocolate in Media is shown mainly in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. It was made into two differnt films and even and sequel in the form of Charlie and the Great Glass Elevator. Chocolate also crops up in many films and television shows.


There are many forms of chocolate, each with its differnt taste.

Unsweetened chocolate is pure chocolate liquor, also known as bitter chocolate. The pure chocolate beans give a strong chocolate flavour. Dark chocolate, also known as plain chocolate is chocolate whcih has no milk. Americans call this 'sweet chocolate' Milk chocolate is chocolate with milk added. It is the most common type of Chocolate. Semisweet chocolate is used for cooking. It is Dark chocolate with a low sugar content. Bittersweet chocolate is chocolate liquor which has other stuff added. It has less sugar and more liquor than semisweet chocolate. Bittersweet and semisweet chocolates are sometimes referred to as 'couverture' Couverture is a term used for chocolates rich in cocoa butter. They usaully have a high fat content and cocoa content. White chocolate is based on cocoa butter without the cocoa solids.
