Template:Astronomical catalogs/doc

This is a documentation subpage for Template:Astronomical catalogs. It may contain usage information, categories and other content that is not part of the original template page.

This template shows a succession of entries in a specified astronomical catalog before and after a given value. For instance, if you tell the template to include Caldwell 99, it will also show links to Caldwells 90-98 and 100-108. If you do not specify a catalog it will not be displayed in the template.

At the moment the template accepts Messier, NGC, IC, PGC, UGC, TrES, HIP, SAO, Caldwell, Collinder, Arp, LTT, NLTT, GC, HR, PPM, HD, Abell, RCW, and Gum, but can be enlarged to any other composed only by numbers.

This template's initial visibility currently defaults to autocollapse, meaning that if there is another collapsible item on the page (a navbox, sidebar, or table with the collapsible attribute), it is hidden apart from its title bar; if not, it is fully visible.

To change this template's initial visibility, the |state= parameter may be used:

• {{Astronomical catalogs/doc|state=collapsed}} will show the template collapsed, i.e. hidden apart from its title bar.
• {{Astronomical catalogs/doc|state=expanded}} will show the template expanded, i.e. fully visible.

• {{Astronomical catalogs/Interacting}} — ⁽ⁱ⁾
