On french wikipedia it says that he is australian with tchec origins... Can you finally decide??

Well this page says he was born in Warsaw, Poland. But this page says he was born in Prague. Neither page says he was born in Australia. In fact the french page says his family moved to Australia when he was 4 years old. what exactly need to be decided?--NeilEvans 20:24, 16 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I've made an index of all the Spellbinder series that Zbych has played in, with a snapshot of each episode. Maybe this link can added somewhere? I made these pages because if found this info nowhere on the internet: http://www.tomaski.be/fotos/zbych-trofimiuk

Fair use rationale for Image:SpellbindPaul.JPG

[edit]

Image:SpellbindPaul.JPG is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 08:17, 6 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The place of birth

[edit]

Wasn't he born in Warsaw? Look here: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0873316/

The two sources given, conflict each other but have been added as neither is a reliable source.--NeilEvans 21:28, 6 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
There's a lot of mis-information out there. He was actually born in Prague (see below).~ Aliveness Cascade (talk) 19:12, 18 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Awards probably garbled

[edit]

I think the Young Actors Award and the Australian Film Institute Award are one and the same, a Young Actors Award from the AFI. There are the two awards listed, with different years, at the IMDB. It's probably just garbled, inaccurate information.

Yes, it's one award - the Australia Film Institute's Young Actor Award - which he got in 1994, for Sky Trackers. Fixed this. ~ Aliveness Cascade (talk) 19:10, 18 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Spellbinder itself won the AFI's Best Children's Television Drama Award in 1996, and this may have been the source of the confusion. ~ Aliveness Cascade (talk) 15:57, 24 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Prague versus Warsaw

[edit]

Since someone is determined to add the Prague information, which appears to simply be hearsay from a geocities page, it would probably be a good idea to write to Mr. Trofimiuk care of La Mama and settle the matter once and for all. He is also credited elsewhere with having been born simply in Poland. He's Polish-Australian, he's credited with birth in Poland, he's credited with birth in Warsaw, Poland. I think the weight of evidence is that he was born in Warsaw. It's just ridiculous to let this silliness go on. The more you publish it at Wikipedia, the more it gets copied everywhere else.

ADDENDUM A FEW MINUTES LATER: Okay, I'll bet he was ACTUALLY born in Prague. His mother Zoja was born in Prague. I'm thinking, okay, Prague it is. But someone still might want to confirm with these folks so that the issue is settled.

According to her biography at Artmajeur - Zoja Trofimiuk his Czech-born mother obtained her degree in Poland (i.e. graduated) in 1977. Whereas Zbych was born in 1979, so it is entirely possible he was born in Prague. Indeed, it says so at his own page at Artmajeur (Artmajeur - Zbych Trofimiuk). Now, his mum is a verified professional international artist, and so it is practically certain that the page at Artmajeur is truly hers - it is a professional outfit, and she wouldn't let someone use her identity - so we can consider it reliable. And it follows that the page for Zbych is also practically certain to be genuine. And *that* says born in Prague! ~ Aliveness Cascade (talk) 05:07, 5 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I would hazard a guess that Zbych's dad is Polish-born, and the family spent a number of years in Poland before they emigrated to Australia. ~ Aliveness Cascade (talk) 05:11, 5 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
The acknowlegements page in Zbych's thesis identifies his mum as Zoja, and his dad as Jurek (a Polish name).[1] ~ Aliveness Cascade (talk) 06:06, 5 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Just found out that there's a bio in the middle of his thesis! It's part of a figure illustrating material relating to his thesis, and it gives us a definite answer:
He was born in Prague, and moved to Australia at four years old. (And at four he could speak Polish, Czech, and German!) ~ Aliveness Cascade (talk) 18:54, 18 February 2021 (UTC)[2][reply]

Re: Prague versus Warsaw

[edit]

There is more prove that he was born in Warsaw then in Prague. According to a Spellbinder script, he was born in Warsaw and its mentioned that he is a Polish born Australian. During filming Spellbinder, he spoke Polish to the other Polish actors. His mother has studied on a university in Czech but has also graduated with a B.A. in Poland. I'd say Warsaw, it just makes more sense.

Ok, the source given is in German. Most people using the English Wikipedia will not be able to read it. There still needs to be an independent credible source.--NeilEvans (talk) 22:07, 26 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Please see my comments above. It is entirely possible that he was born in Prague, and that the family spent his early years in Poland, before emigrating to Australia. ~ Aliveness Cascade (talk) 05:14, 5 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Photo

Have anyone have a photo of the actor that we can used it?  Avestaboy (talk) 17:11, 10 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Zbigniew Krzysztof

[edit]

As we don't have a reliable source, I've removed the "full birth name" of Zbigniew Krzysztof Trofimiuk. That said, I don't really doubt it: Zbigniew and Krzysztof are indeed Polish names. ~ Aliveness Cascade (talk) 05:40, 5 February 2021 (UTC).[reply]
