- Thanks @User:Silver seren. Note, today's work found sources repeatedly being misused in the article—as if the prose was written, and then something close was sought to appeand as a source (rather than content being written from the sources). This means hard work, it the article is ever going to be GA. I started with a statement I found plagiarised in the main text, and then began checking the lead. It will be slow, hard work—between the dead links and the wire-walled citations—but all of the text should be checked against the presented source for valid use. In some cases, other appearing sources can be borrowed upon—this was done to support "political consultant" title in the lead, not supported by the citation appearing-but all sources must be opened, checked, read, etc. to put this article in good form. Cheers. 98.193.42.25 (talk) 02:29, 26 April 2024 (UTC)

[edit]Is a whole paragraph devoted to the failures of this woman’s daughter’s necessary? PetesPizza (talk) 10:33, 15 July 2024 (UTC)
- Agree. I had to read this paragraph three times to realize it wasn’t about Susie. Anderbubble (talk) 13:19, 8 November 2024 (UTC)
Agree.— Preceding unsigned comment added by 2601:645:C601:6010:804A:E623:9E25:EE36 (talk • contribs)
- Maybe add this stuff to the daughter's article? --Malerooster (talk) 12:52, 8 November 2024 (UTC)

- Valerie Jarrett was a White House senior adviser during the Obama administration, not chief of staff. Obama had five chiefs of staff during his eight years in office, all of whom were men. Cullen328 (talk) 00:38, 8 November 2024 (UTC)
Biological Mother
[edit]Who was the biological MOTHER of Susie Summerall Wiles? I can't recall seeing many fathers listed solely under "parents". 96.253.127.119 (talk) 03:50, 8 November 2024 (UTC)
- There probably just aren’t any reliable sources stating it at this point. I think we can safely assume that Susie didn’t go back in time and give birth to herself, after all. 2604:2D80:7186:600:0:0:0:656 (talk) 06:04, 8 November 2024 (UTC)

[edit]It says she graduated with a BA from university and also says she has an incomplete degree from a different college? So which is it? 2607:FEA8:FE40:7E69:1DCF:2FEB:C1F4:FA62 (talk) 04:14, 8 November 2024 (UTC)

Misunderstanding of WP:SPECULATION
[edit]@Mb2437 is reverting this edit, claiming it's WP:SPECULATION. I fully disagree, as that rule is about editors speculating, and this content is all sourced. Hell, that rule even says "Predictions, speculation, forecasts and theories stated by reliable, expert sources or recognized entities in a field may be included...". Wiles was linked to the indictment, and us saying so is based on a recognized RS. It's possible to disagree with the way this is written, but the inclusion of what a reliable source reports on is not speculation. Happy to get others thoughts, but I don't think this interpretation of the rule remotely applies here. Alyo (chat·edits) 20:02, 8 November 2024 (UTC)
- There are no reliable or expert sources in any field linked, all are unnamed. One would not plaster—for example—Kamala Harris' article with potentially sham speculation peddled by Fox News. This information is not verifiable with quotes or named sources. Mb2437 (talk) 20:08, 8 November 2024 (UTC)
- Yeah dude, that's how journalism works? The community has decided that ABC is a good source, and Fox News isn't. The source is fine, and you can't remove stuff you disagree with just because you don't like it. Alyo (chat·edits) 20:15, 8 November 2024 (UTC)
- Still has undue weight placed on something that is purely speculative and not really pertinent in establishing her notability, it is non-encyclopaedic gossip. Mb2437 (talk) 20:20, 8 November 2024 (UTC)
- Great, then if that's the only issue I'll be re-adding a shortened version more centered on the ABC reporting. Alyo (chat·edits) 20:22, 8 November 2024 (UTC)

- There are also (1) WP:BLPBALANCE: critique (or praise) should be presented responsibly, conservatively, and in a disinterested tone, (2) WP:BLPGOSSIP, Be wary of relying on sources that use weasel words and that attribute material to anonymous sources., and (3, again BLPBALANCE) Beware of claims that rely on guilt by association. I would say, a journalist quoting anonymous "sources" might have a problem with #2, and the phrase "part of a pattern of other Trump staffers who have been subpoenaed as part of an investigation " quite likely goes against #3. Викидим (talk) 03:08, 9 November 2024 (UTC)
- I agree with you that this is very clearly not WP:CRYSTALBALL. I also don't think there are WP:BLPBALANCE issues with the paragraph as written. I think the WP:BLPGOSSIP concerns have a little more merit, but in my opinion it's pretty crucial that WP:BLPGOSSIP is about sources that use weasel words and attribute to anonymous sources. That's not the ABC news article, which is pretty direct about what it's saying. Loki (talk) 03:55, 9 November 2024 (UTC)
- I do not think that the text of BLPGOSSIP suggests that using sources with weasel words is OK as long as they are attributed properly. Therefore, most likely, this is one of the cases in English where "and" does not necessarily mean "simultaneously" (cf. "Emily must call young and healthy residents" example in Ira P. Robbins' "And/Or and the Proper Use of Legal Language"). Викидим (talk) 04:59, 9 November 2024 (UTC)
- You still haven't identified what any "weasel words" here are though. The ABC news piece is very directly calling her "PAC Representative". They are not implying, or suggesting--they are saying, they are directly linking. Any additional connections on our part may be weasel, so I'm more cautious about the second part of the paragraph, but I see no valid reason to remove the ABC news piece. Alyo (chat·edits) 15:13, 11 November 2024 (UTC)
- I agree that the piece is fairly direct, but it still attributes material to anonymous sources; the report cannot be relied upon as encyclopedic evidence, per WP:BLPGOSSIP. Mb2437 (talk) 16:06, 11 November 2024 (UTC)
- Nope, take it to WP:BLPN if you want, but we do not avoid use of any piece of journalism that uses anonymous sources. ABC stands behind their reporting, so we can rely on them. Alyo (chat·edits) 19:41, 11 November 2024 (UTC)
- It's not about using anonymous sources, it's relying upon them to form your statement. If there are no other sources supporting said claims, then it very much falls under WP:BLPGOSSIP. Mb2437 (talk) 19:46, 11 November 2024 (UTC)
- I would leave this "material" out for now. If something substantial comes from it, maybe revisit later. --Malerooster (talk) 19:50, 11 November 2024 (UTC)
- Given who the next President is going to be, I can fairly confidently make a prediction about that now. Alyo (chat·edits) 20:13, 11 November 2024 (UTC)

Birthplace
[edit]I not aware of any sources describing the place of birth. The original NJ designation keeps getting changed to Lake City, Florida by anonymous and very new editors. My proposal is to delete the birthplace altogether until some WP:RS are provided. Викидим (talk) 23:17, 10 November 2024 (UTC)
