The contents of the Machiavelli: The Prince page were merged into Merchant Prince (video game) on 18 September 2021. For the contribution history and old versions of the redirected page, please see its history; for the discussion at that location, see its talk page.

Merchant Prince and Machiavelli: The Prince are the same game. Per PC Gamer US ([1]), the game's name was changed after Holistic Design fell out with the original publisher, Quantum Quality Productions, and switched to MicroProse. Machiavelli was the title of the MicroProse re-release. Holistic Design itself said that Machiavelli was "initially released as Merchant Prince" ([2]). Circa 2000, Holistic's official site did not even have a separate listing for Merchant Prince, and simply considered it the same game as Machiavelli.
