Merger proposal

[edit]
The following discussion is an archived discussion of the proposal. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. No further edits should be made to this section.

The result of the proposal was merge. Jgera5 (talk) 06:10, 3 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Sirius XM merged their channel lineups in 2008, first by programming, then by (mostly) realigning the channels to be in the same spot. Yes, they are still technically two separate services, but this is due to technical reasons as well as to honor pre-merger contracts with automakers (e.g. GM has XM, Sirius has Kia and Ford, etc...), with the current differences being minuscule. We could easily do a table that shows which channel each station is on (showing differences for the few stations that air on different channels between Sirius and XM), show which service is offered, etc... while at the same time avoiding duplicity.

With that said, there is also the debate as to whether or not we should even have the lists to begin with. Wikipedia isn't an advertisement, and people wanting to see Sirius XM's channel lineup can easily be directed to Sirius XM's website. All of the major pay TV providers in the United States (Comcast, Dish Network, DirecTV, Time Warner, etc...) generally have the same channel lineup wherever you live save for adjustments made for local channels. Do we need to have a channel list of where those stations are listed? If we do keep such a list, it should be one list, though I'm perfectly OK with eliminating them from Wikipedia altogether. Since there were no objections and it had been up a few weeks, I went through with the merger.Jgera5 (talk) 06:10, 3 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Spa

[edit]

I don't see Spa (Sirius XM) listed anywhere. This is Channel 68, which features New Age Music. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 198.86.238.201 (talk) 01:49, 9 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Sirius XM Indie 1.0

[edit]

One of my favorite newer channels on Sirius XM is Indie 1.0. I want to add it to this list of Sirius XM Radio channels, but I don't have enough references to make this possible. If anybody has any references about Indie 1.0 to share with me, could you please me a note on my talk page? Thanks. Mr. Brain (talk) 01:40, 20 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Merge Religion and Christian?

[edit]

They are basically the same thing. Barnacles14 (talk) 15:12, 26 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Limited edition

[edit]

Occasionally XM will bring online-only stations onto the regular satellite line-up, for example Carolina Shag for the summer of 2017. Is there a place to note this, or is it not-notable? Deckocard21 (talk) 18:24, 13 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Updated Sirius XM Channels on DISH Network

[edit]

Hi,

I have made an updated list regarding Sirius XM channels on DISH Network and wonder if it would be okay to post it as a separate list under this Wiki page? It would be easier to do that than to revise the existing Dish channel column. Perhaps I could delete that column and add my list underneath the existing channels? Open to suggestions of course, as I am new here.

"Core artists"

[edit]

Why is this section included? Where does it come from? I can't see any source, especially not a secondary source. I will remove this section if no-one objects in a couple of days. Jdcooper (talk) 00:36, 8 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Numerical Order

[edit]

Im wondering if i should put the list of former channels in numerical order? Or should maybe a chart be created so it can be sorted by both number and date replaced? 7s3s (talk) 05:30, 27 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
