Pronunciation?

[edit]

How do you pronounce her family name? --KJ 10:18, 19 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It sounds like "Base-inger" rather than "Baz-inger". --198.74.20.118 14:54, 14 June 2006 (UTC)CostnerM[reply]

In the SNL monologue from 1993, Kim and her then husband Alec Baldwin make a joke about not even him being sure about the pronounciation of her name, which she repeatedly states is pronounced bay-singer. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Rothron (talkcontribs) 10:48, 11 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Her Boxing Helena legal problems and bankruptcy should be mentioned, although I understand she won on appeal. --Tilman 15:33, 5 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Order of films

[edit]

I noticed her films are listed with the oldest towards the top, whereas most other actors I have seen list the most recent film (newest) at the top. Is there any type of standard that should be applied?

Agorophobia

[edit]

That's sort of a personal thing. Is this something she has stated herself in public, or what? What is the source? --Howdybob 16:02, 28 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

A basic Google search yields: http://www.personalmd.com/news/n0827102716.shtml "Fear has been something I've lived with my entire life, the fear of being in public places -- which led to anxiety or panic attacks, Basinger says in a remarkable interview on ``Panic, the powerful documentary which airs on HBO in September."

I would say stating such a thing on an HBO documentary is pubic and reliable. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.216.68.135 (talk) 17:22, 7 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

And you do realize you're replying to a post that is nearly two years old? Wildhartlivie (talk) 17:41, 7 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I do not believe that HBO meets the criteria for being a reliable source. Roman666 (talk) 13:25, 27 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Jr. Miss Contest in Mobile, AL

[edit]

The article mentions that the Jr. Miss Contest was in New York City. I'm quite confident that it has always been in Mobile, Alabama.

The Marrying Man

[edit]

On Alec Baldwins page it says he and Kim met on the "critically panned The Marrying Man" However on this (Kim's) page it says she and Alec met "when both played romantic lovers in the 1991 success , The Marrying Man." How can The Marrying Man be critically panned and a success at the same time?--70.157.42.133 (talk) 22:58, 20 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

To respond: It's the same way Dakota Johnson and Jamie Dornan can say they played romantic (in a sense) lovers in the critically panned 50 Shades Darker. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.148.211.36 (talk) 06:31, 15 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Personal life- Alec Baldwin give her his own gain of 1.3 million from the movie "The SHADOW".

[edit]

In the personal life section it reads- Her financial difficulties were exacerbated when she pulled out of the controversial film Boxing Helena, resulting in the studio suing and winning an $8-million judgment against her at after a trial.Alec Baldwin give her his own gain of 1.3 million from the movie "The SHADOW". Kim filed for bankruptcy[5] and also appealed the jury's decision to a higher court, which sided with her. Eventually, she and the studio settled for a lesser amount.[6]

I took the following sentence-"Alec Baldwin give her his own gain of 1.3 million from the movie "The SHADOW" out of the personal life section. It made no sense, looked like a misplaced sentence and was spelled wrong and I don't see a source anywhere saying Alec gave her 1.3 million,or that it was money he made from The Shadow.--70.157.42.133 (talk) 23:25, 20 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

What color is your sex, anyway?

[edit]

How about her supposed collaboration with Prince, "Hollywood Affair"? Was that really her (and him) or is this an urban legend? Asat (talk) 11:43, 29 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

9 1/2 Weeks

[edit]

I remember 9 1/2 Weeks as something of a sensation. Why say it was a "flop"? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Jma2120 (talkcontribs) 19:20, 19 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

It generated a lot of talk, but box office-wise, it only generated $6.7 million dollars domestically [1] against an estimated $17 million budget. That's a flop. Wildhartlivie (talk) 23:34, 19 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

9 1/2 weeks

According to her real life and filmography ,Beloved ones I tell you in solemn truth that her real name is Kimila Ann Basinger Snyder Baldwin et al. ( lots of et al) ;-) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 5.116.56.52 (talk) 16:40, 1 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Elementary school claim

[edit]

This absurd claim about a talent show expulsion has been here for months. The song was recorded in 2002. Exactly how was Kim Basinger in elementary school in 2002?

Update her photo

[edit]

We need to update her photo because profile photo is so old. Risk34 16 September 2014

↑ In addition, it might be kind to put a picture more representative of her legacy as a sex symbol than the one currently up [3.14.20] — Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.148.211.36 (talk) 06:33, 15 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Last Dance with Mary Jane

[edit]

I find it rather queer that there is no mention of her doing that 1993 vid with Tom Petty playing a dead person. I wanted to hear a bit about her take on that but nothing. --24.177.0.156 (talk) 21:06, 18 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

No Dog and Cat?

[edit]

Someone put a photo of Basinger in her 1977 role in the short-lived series Dog and Cat, but there's no mention of it in the Early Years section. I don't know enough about the series to add in the information myself. Anyone want to take a stab at it? WikiWyz (talk) 00:55, 21 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Crime Boss: Rockay City

[edit]

Not yet mentioned in the article, she's a prominent character in Crime Boss: Rockay City. --62.166.252.25 (talk) 14:52, 25 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
